  • The Edmonton Elks outscored the visiting Calgary Stampeders 21-3 in the second quarter en route to a 37-16 CFL victory Saturday night. With the win, the surging Elks improved to 5-and-8 and escaped the West Division basement with a sweep of the home-and-home series with their provincial rival. The Stampeders, who slipped to 4-and-8, now occupy last spot in the five-team West Division.
  • Zach Collaros threw for a touchdown and Sergio Castillo kicked four field goals as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 26-21 in CFL action. The Bombers and B-C Lions, both with 7-and-6 records, now share top spot in the West Division, while the third-place Roughriders remain third after failing to win for a seventh straight outing.
  • The Redblacks scored early and often on their home turf. Damon Webb returned two interceptions for touchdowns in Ottawa’s 41-27 victory over the Toronto Argonauts. The Redblacks are three points back of Montreal for top spot in the East. Argos quarterback Chad Kelly threw four interceptions.

NBA

A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press last night that Canadian point guard Jamal Murray has agreed to a four-year, 208-million-dollar (US) maximum contract extension with the Denver Nuggets. Murray made a great comeback after missing the 2021-22 season with a torn ACL to help Nikola Jokic lead the Nuggets to their first NBA title in 2023. Murray had an injury-filled 2023-24 season.
