SASKATOON – Brandon Lisowsky scored twice as the Saskatoon Blades rolled past the Regina Pats 6-1 in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night at the SaskTel Centre.

Lukas Hansen, Tanner Molendyk, Tyler Parr and Jordan Keller also scored for the Blades (4-2-0-0), who led 3-0 after the first period and 6-0 heading into the third.

Egor Sidorov added two assists for the Blades who went 2-for-8 on the power play. The Pats were 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Tanner Howe scored a third-period goal for the Pats (3-3-1-0), who were outshot 51-15.

HITMEN 4 WHEAT KINGS 3

BRANDON, Man. – Carter MacAdams’ goal at 12:53 of the third period snapped a 3-3 tie and gave the visiting Calgary Hitmen a 4-3 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Sean Tschigerl scored twice for the Hitmen, while Ben Kindel netted a single.

Dominik Petre scored twice for the Wheat Kings (3-3-1-0), while Caleb Hadland scored once.

The Hitmen (2-3-0-0) outshot the Wheat Kings 38-28.

REBELS 3 HURRICANES 1

RED DEER, Alta. – Ollie Josephson scored a goal and added an assist as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1.

Talon Brigley and Frantisek Formanek also scored for the Rebels (2-3-0-0).

Brayden Edwards scored for the Hurricanes (4-2-0-0).

RAIDERS 4 OIL KINGS 1

EDMONTON, Alta. – Matej Kubiesa scored a goal and added an assist as the Prince Albert Raiders beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-1.

Carter Anderson, Ryder Ritchie and Aiden Oiring also scored for the Raiders (4-3-0-0).

Adam Jecho scored for the Oil Kings (3-3-0-1).

WINTERHAWKS 6 GIANTS 2

PORTLAND, Ore. – Diego Buttazzoni scored three goals as the Portland Winterhawks rolled the visiting Vancouver Giants 6-2.

Carter Sotheran, Luca Cagnoni and Josh Davies also scored for the Winterhawks (4-1-0-0).

Logen Hammett and Connor Dale scored for the Giants (2-2-0-0). Vancouver netminder Brett Mirwald stopped 45 of 51 shots.

WARRIORS 4 TIGERS 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – Brayden Yager scored the winning goal at 15:12 of the second period as the Moose Jaw Warriors edged the host Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3.

Yager scored twice for the Warriors (4-3-0-0), while Martin Rysavy and Kalem Parker scored once.

Cayden Lindstrom, Shane Smith and Hunter St. Martin scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Tigers (4-2-1-0).

WILD 6 COUGARS 3

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Easton Armstrong scored twice as the visiting Wenatchee Wild defeated the Prince George Cougars 6-3.

Evan Friesen, Steven Arp, Kenta Isogai and Rodzers Bukarts also scored for the Wild (2-4-1-0).

Ondrej Becher scored twice while Carlin Dezainde scored once for the Western Conference-leading Cougars (6-2-0-0).

AMERICANS 3 SILVERTIPS 1

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Brandon Whynott’s power-play goal at 4:24 of the third period snapped a 1-1 deadlock and lifted the Tri-City Americans to a 3-1 win over the visiting Everett Silvertips.

Ethan Peters and Jake Gudelj also scored for the Americans (3-1-0-0), who were outshot 33-21 but got a 30-save performance from Lukas Matecha.

Austin Roest scored for the Silvertips (3-3-0-0).

ROCKETS 6 CHIEFS 3

KELOWNA, B.C. – Tij Iginla scored three goals and Michael Cicek added two as the Kelowna Rockets clipped the visiting Spokane Chiefs 5-3.

John Babcock scored the other goal for the Rockets (2-2-1-0), who led 2-1 after the first period but headed into the third in a 2-2 tie.

Carter Streek, Lukas Kral and Berkly Catton scored for the Chiefs (2-3-0-0).

 

 

MLB PLAYOFFS

The visiting Arizona Diamondbacks scored six runs in the first inning en route to a shocking 11-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opening game of the best-of-five N-L Division Series. The D-backs chased three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw in the first inning. Elsewhere, the visiting Philadelphia Phillies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their N-L Division Series by beating the Atlanta Braves 3-0.

It was a superb day for Lonestar State baseball fans. The Texas Rangers edged the host Baltimore Orioles 3-2, while the Houston Astros slipped past the visiting Minnesota Twins 6-4 in the opening games of the best-of-five American League Division Series. Both series resume Sunday.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings spotted the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-0 lead and then stormed back to post a 4-3 NHL pre-season victory on Saturday. The Red Wings finished the pre-season with a 5-and-2 record, while the Leafs finished at 4-and-2. Elsewhere, the Montreal Canadiens rallied from behind to beat the Ottawa Senators 6-4. The Sens finished the pre-season at 6-and-2, while the Habs were 3-and-3.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS

DALLAS (AP) – Dillon Gabriel threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Nic Anderson with 15 seconds left and 12th-ranked Oklahoma won a battle of unbeatens 34-30 over No. 3 Texas on Saturday in their last Red River rivalry game as Big 12 members before moving to the Southeastern Conference.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) – Jalen Milroe passed for a career-high 321 yards and Jermain Burton caught two touchdown passes as Alabama beat Texas A&M 26-20 to take control of the SEC West.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – With the game on the line, Shedeur Sanders came through – as he usually does – to end the Buffaloes’ eight-game Pac-12 losing streak. Sanders accounted for two touchdowns and hit Javon Antonio on on 43-yard pass to set up Alejandro Mata’s 43-yard field goal with 12 seconds left, lifting Colorado to a 27-24 win over Arizona State on Saturday.

The Regina Pats are a hard working team, the boys are trying and you can’t ask for anything more.
