The Vancouver Canucks won their seventh in a row, as they routed the Boston Bruins 6-2 Saturday evening in NHL action. Roberto Luongo made 39 saves for the Canucks, who were perfect during a five-game homestand. Vancouver is 8-1-1 in the past 10 games. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask was lifted early in the third period after allowing his fourth goal on 23 shots.

The Toronto Maple Leafs thrashed Chicago 7-3 at Air Canada Centre as Joffrey Lupul and Peter Holland each scored twice. Mason Raymond chipped in with four assists and Jonathan Bernier made 25 saves. The win snapped Toronto’s eight-game losing skid against the Blackhawks that dated back to 2003.

Carey Price made 21 saves to record his 21st career NHL shutout and Max Pacioretty scored in overtime to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders. Earlier, Dallas beat Winnipeg 6-4. Calgary edged Buffalo 2-1 in overtime and the Los Angeles Kings downed Ottawa 5-2.

Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists before hurting his left leg in the third period of Pittsburgh’s 4-1 win over the the Red Wings. NHL scoring leader Sidney Crosby also scored two goals to help the Penguins win. Malkin got tangled up with Detroit’s Luke Glendening and lost his balance as his left skate took the brunt of a collision with the boards. The Russian forward kept his left foot in the air as he was helped off the ice.

Kyle Lowry scored 16 points, Jonas Valanciunas added 15 points and 11 rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors beat the Chicago Bulls 99-77. DeMar DeRozan scored 15 to help the Raptors earn their second win in as many nights after dropping six of seven.

The family of a former Kansas City Chiefs’ player says his body has been exhumed so his brain can be examined for possible clues about why he killed his girlfriend and himself last year. Jovan Belcher’s body was removed from his New York grave on Friday. An examination of the linebacker’s brain could help determine whether he had a destructive brain disease linked to blows to the head.
