Dyson Stevenson scored twice, including the winner at 16:26 of the third period, as Regina edged the Blades in Saskatoon Saturday night.

Dryden Hunt had a goal and an assist for the Pats (17-13-1) while Boston Leier had two assists.  Cory Millette and Brett Stovin each had a goal and an assist for Saskatoon (10-20-3), which has lost six in a row.

Dawson MacAuley made 21 saves for Regina as Troy Trombley gave the Blades a chance to win by turning away 46-of-49 shots.

James Reimer made 47 combined saves during regulation and overtime, and James Van Riemsdyk and Mason Raymond both scored in the shootout as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-3. Van Riemsdyk, Phil Kessel and Jake Gardiner all scored in regulation for Toronto.

Brandon Prust and Tomas Plekanec each had a goal and an assist to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 and extend the Montreal Canadiens’ win streak to five games. Alex Galchenyuk also scored for the Canadiens and Carey Price made 23 saves for the win.

Mark Scheifele scored 1:04 into overtime as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1. Scheifele scored from the near post off a nifty pass by Blake Wheeler. Wheeler also had a goal for Winnipeg, which finished 4 and 2 on its longest road trip of the season.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being pulled down and punched by Boston’s Shawn Thornton. Thornton grabbed Orpik from behind, and knocked him down before throwing a punch. Orpik appeared to hit his head on the ice when he fell. The Penguins said Orpik was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, and was alert and conscious. Boston won 3-2.

Aurelien Collin scored the equalizer in the second half of the MLS Cup, then drove home the deciding penalty kick to give Sporting Kansas City a dramatic 7-6 victory over Real Salt Lake. It’s the first league title for Kansas City since 2000. Alvaro Saborio, who missed the Western Conference finals because of injury, scored for Real Salt Lake in the 52nd minute, but Collin answered with a header in the 76th minute.

The Beard is staying in Los Angeles. The Dodgers announced they have signed free-agent reliever Brian Wilson to a $10 million, one-year deal to stay with the team. The deal includes an 8.5 million dollar player option for 2015. Wilson joined the N-L West champion Dodgers last season after a second Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery.

Thornton should get at least 10 games for this garbage.. They are killing a good game called hockey and someone will die if this type of garbage continues.
