SUNDAY STAMPEDERS UPDATE
After a standard practice in the morning, a mock game was held in the afternoon on Day 8 of Stampeders training camp on Sunday at McMahon Stadium.
During the afternoon session, the coaches put the players in game-like situations complete with officials and a 20-second clock. A pair of rookies combined for the game’s only touchdown as quarterback Bryant Moniz hooked up with receiver Robert Holland on a long catch-and-run.
Rookie pass-catchers Marcus Rucker and Aldarius Johnson also made receptions for big plays, as did veteran Anthony Parker. Third-year running back Matt Walter made the biggest gain on the ground.
Rene Paredes picked up right where he left off in 2013 as he converted on two field-goal tries including a 44-yarder while rookie Tyler Crapigna also split the uprights for three points.
On the defensive side of the ball, Craig Wilkins had a fumble recovery while fellow rookie Jeff Richards ended one drill in favour of the defence by making an interception.
