SUPER BOWL: SEAHAWKS 43 BRONCOS 8

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have won their first Super Bowl title, crushing the favoured Denver Broncos 43-8.

Linebacker Malcolm Smith returned an interception of Peyton Manning 69 yards for a touchdown late in the first half Sunday, and Percy Harvin returned the opening kickoff of the second half 87 yards for another TD.

The Seahawks led 36-0 before Denver finally scored on the last play of the third quarter.

Manning was 34 of 49 for 280 yards, but most of that came after Seattle had all but put the game away. He was flustered by Seattle's fierce defence for most of the first half, throwing two interceptions. The second fluttered into Smith's hands after Cliff Avril struck the five-time NFL MVP's arm as he was releasing the ball.

Second-year quarterback Russell Wilson was coolly efficient for the Seahawks, throwing for two touchdowns.

To all of the Dressler doubters out there; The first guy to touch the ball in the Super Bowl is 5'5". Dressler would tower over him.

Who was that grumpy dude carrying the Lombardi trophy, complete with a green rag under it, onto the field?

Really?
I'll take the Grey Cup and Red Serges any day.

bet nobody saws that coming!!! Jon Ryan gets a pretty good payday without stepping on the field. Been a long time since there has not been at least one punt in a game. Still gets his name on the trophy and good for him.

Ryan did punt once and he was the holder for the field goals and converts.

Did Jon not hold for converts? Wish he'd been interviewed on TSN, but I'm sure he'll be on the local media lots. And he should get to keep one of the 12th Man flags.

Enjoy your vacation Rod! Well deserved.

The small town I'm from has a 4 time Stanley Cup winner. There is another little town in this province that has a 6 time Stanley cup winner. Last time I checked my drivers license it says Saskatchewan on it. So who cares about your petty spat with Saskatoon! I can't think of any world class golfers coming out Regina either, but what does it matter? You're still an idiot for bringing this up!

That was my point exactly! Other than trying to start some childish rant there was no good reason to bring it up. Hence the statement to show even smaller towns have multiple champions with more rings than either of the 2 largest cities. The bickering between these 2 cities is getting very stagnant. Time to put it to bed!

"Jon Ryan gets a pretty good payday without stepping on the field."

Further proof that IQ tests should be required before posting.
