SWIFT CURRENT INDIANS TO CHANGE THEIR NAME

The 2016 Western Major Baseball league Champion Swift Current Indians Ball Club, Board of Directors is announcing that the nickname “Indians” will no longer be used by the Swift Current based Ball Club.

Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee and long time Swift Current Indians team member Harv Martinez explained that the new name would reflect the evolving focus and standards of the organization as community leaders, “The tradition and passion for baseball in this region will still be strong and vibrant. The new direction in creating a new nickname allows for us re-brand our product and promote the team in a more current and sensitive manner”.

The Ball Club’s Board of Directors has been considering the name change since the Ball Club’s 2015 Annual General Meeting and it feels that now is the time to inform the public of their intentions.

Martinez, who has sat on the Board as the VP of Baseball since retiring as head coach stated, “The organization has put considerable thought into the decision and we believe it’s the right thing to do at this time. We are excited for the possibilities which lie ahead”!

SIGA was not a name introduced by the First Nations – it was introduced the the government. Just like INAC… Good point though (end sarcasm)

SIGA was called SIGA by mutual consent.

In Las Vegas each fall they have the INFR. That is a national finals rodeo for you guessed it and guess who formed that association and who makes up the membership.
