TAMBELLINI TO CALGARY
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club announced on Wednesday that they have acquired 19-year-old forward Adam Tambellini from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a first round selection in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. Tambellini is expected to join the Hitmen on their East Division road trip tonight in Saskatoon.
“We are very excited to add a top forward to our group,” said Hitmen General Manager and Vice President, Business Operations Mike Moore. “Adam possesses size, skating and a scoring touch that will add terrific depth to our lineup. It is not easy to give up a first round draft pick, however when you acquire a talent like Adam we felt the price was warranted.”
Tambellini, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, began the 2013-14 season with the University of North Dakota, recording four points (two goals, two assists) over 16 games as a freshman. The 6-3, 185-pound forward was selected by the New York Rangers in the third round, 65th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Tambellini played two seasons with South Surrey and Vernon of the BCHL (2011-13), where he recorded 63 goals and 58 assists for 121 points over 107 games played.
