John Tavares has joined elite all-star game company. The Islanders captain scored four goals as Team Toews beat Team Foligno 17-12 at the mid-season game in Columbus on Sunday. Tavares is just the sixth player to score four times at an all-star game. The others are Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Vincent Damphousse, Mike Gartner and Dany Heatley.

Emmanuel Sanders and Jimmy Graham scored two touchdowns apiece to lead Team Irvin to a 32-28 win over Team Carter at the Pro Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford threw for 316 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, Atlanta’s Matt Ryan tossed 104 yards and two T-D strikes and Dallas’ Tony Romo was 4-for-6 for 43 yards for the winners. On Carter’s side, Andrew Luck and Drew Brees each threw for two T-Ds.

Saskatoon’s Stefanie Lawton will represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, national womens curling championship. In Sunday’s provincial final in Assiniboia, Lawton’s rink downed Regina’s Michelle Englot 6-3. The National Scotties will be held in Moose Jaw in mid-February.

Back-to-back wins for the Toronto Raptors. Jonas Valanciunas had his 14th double-double of the season to power Toronto over the Pistons, 114-110. The Raptors big man poured in 20 points and picked up 11 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan added 25 points. D-J Augustin led Detroit with a career-high 35 points.

Around the NBA, Tim Duncan had 20 points and 11 rebounds as San Antonio topped Milwaukee 101-95. The Atlanta Hawks earned a 16th straight win, beating Minnesota 112-100, Washington slipped past Denver 117-115 in overtime, and Cleveland downed Oklahoma City 108-98.
