THE SPORTS DOCTOR’S WEEK 4 NFL PICKS

Last week I was an embarrassing 5-11 (21-27) and 3-13 (19-29) against the spread.

Sunday early

Miami Dolphins (3-0) at New England Patriots (1-2)
Line: Patriots by 6.5

Yup…you’re not dreaming, the Dolphins are 3-0 while the Patriots are below .500. Tom Brady will turn things around this week.

Dr. Football: Take the Patriots to win and cover.

Houston Texans (0-3) at Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
Line: Colts by 1.5

Terrible start for the Texans especially with JJ Watt and DeShaun Watson healthy. Houston always struggles up north in Indy too.

Dr. Football: Take the Colts to win and cover.

Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
Line: Falcons by 5.5

Atlanta’s schedule doesn’t get any easier this week while the Bengals remain on the road. Look for Matt Ryan to figure things out at home.

Dr. Football: Take the Falcons to win and cover.

Buffalo Bills (1-2) at Green Bay Packers (1-1-1)
Line: Packers by 10

Great job, Buffalo. You ruined all those Survivor Pools. Your prize?
A crushing defeat in Green Bay.

Dr. Football: Take the Packers to win and cover.

Detroit Lions (1-2) at Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
Line: Cowboys by 3

The Cowboys got their butts handed to them last week, while the Lions shocked even their fans with a home win against the Patriots. Lions will try to build on that in a very hostile environment.

Dr. Football: Take the Lions in an upset.

New York Jets (1-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
Line: Jaguars by 7.5

The Jaguars will come out hard after last week’s loss against the Titans. Jets QB Sam Darnold won’t stand a chance against Jacksonville’s defense.

Dr. Football: Take the Jaguars to win and cover.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) at Chicago Bears (2-1)
Line: Bears by 3

Two up and coming teams who have surprised a lot of people thus far. An even match up; so go with the home squad.

Dr. Football: Take the Bears to win and cover.

Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) at Tennessee Titans (2-1)
Line: Eagles by 4

With Carson Wentz back, it’s tough to bet against Philly when they’re facing a mediocre team, although the Titans played well enough last week to knock off the Jaguars.

Dr. Football: Take the Eagles to win but not cover.

Sunday late

Seattle Seahawks (1-2) at Arizona Cardinals (0-3)
Line: Seahawks by 3

Seattle figured it out last week, so they can basically practice that in Arizona where the Cardinals won’t put up any type of fight.

Dr. Football: Take the Seahawks to win and cover.

Cleveland Browns (1-1-1) at Oakland Raiders (0-3)
Line: Raiders by 2.5

It had to happen eventually, but don’t let the Browns fool you into thinking they’re any good. Oakland is due.

Dr. Football: Take the Raiders to win and cover.

San Francisco 49ers (1-2) at Los Angeles Chargers (1-2)
Line: Chargers by 10.5

No Jimmy Garoppolo? No chance San Fran.

Dr. Football: Take the Chargers to win and cover.

New Orleans Saints (2-1) at New York Giants (1-2)
Line: Saints by 3.5

Drew Brees should have an easy time against the Giants defense that won’t put up much of a fight.

Dr. Football: Take the Saints to win and cover.

Sunday night

Baltimore Ravens (2-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1-1)
Line: Steelers by 3

A few years ago, these teams really put on a show when they faced each other, now not so much. But they still hate each other. Pittsburgh has won the last three in this series, go with momentum.

Dr. Football: Take the Steelers to win and cover.

Monday night

Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) at Denver Broncos (2-1)
Line: Chiefs by 5

Great Monday nighter with two teams that play hard against each other. The Chiefs will not go 16-0; Denver won’t let that happen at home.

Dr. Football: Take the Broncos in an upset.
