Women’s Basketball – The Cougars host the non-conference Cougar Classic this week at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. They’ll play Lakehead on Wednesday night (6:00), Saskatchewan on Thursday night (7:00), and Lethbridge on Friday night (5:00). The tournament also features two games not involving the Cougars – Lakehead and Lethbridge will meet on Thursday night (5:00), while Saskatchewan and Lakehead will square off on Friday afternoon (3:00).

Rams Football – What was supposed to be a quiet bye week turned into anything but for the Rams. Canada West announced on Friday that the Rams forfeited the three wins they had accumulated this season because of an ineligible player in the lineup for the first five conference games. The Rams (0-5) could still qualify for the postseason, but will need to win all three of their remaining games and get some help on the out-of-town scoreboard along the way. They host Alberta (2-3) on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 (SaskTel maxTV 48/348).

Men’s Hockey – The Cougars (0-1-1) had last weekend off, but are back at it this weekend with their home openers against Lethbridge (0-2-0) at The Co-operators Centre. They’ll face off against the Pronghorns on Friday night (7:00) and Saturday afternoon (3:00).

Women’s Soccer – The Cougars (2-7-1) were on the wrong end of a pair of 1-0 scores over the weekend, losing to Saskatchewan on Saturday in Saskatoon and again on Sunday in Regina. With just four matches left on the Canada West schedule, the Cougars still occupy the sixth and final playoff position in the Prairie Division. They play their final home matches of the 2018 season this weekend against a pair of Pacific Division opponents, as they host Victoria (4-5-1) on Saturday and No. 6 UBC (8-2-0) on Sunday. Both tilts kick off at noon at the U of R Field.

Swimming – The Cougars have their first meet of the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Lawson Aquatic Centre, with the Fall Break Out scheduled to start at 5:00 on Saturday night and at 9:00 on Sunday morning.

Women’s Volleyball – The Cougars close out their non-conference schedule this weekend with a pair of matches against the University of Saskatchewan hosted by Ochapowace First Nation. After the two showdowns against the Huskies, the Cougars will prepare for the Canada West schedule which begins on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 against Trinity Western in Langley, B.C.

Men’s Basketball – The Cougars finished in second place at the Concordia Classic in Montreal, starting out the tournament with a loss to host Concordia but rebounding with a dominant win over Waterloo and a tight 85-84 win over Acadia. Now 4-1 in non-conference play, the Cougars will have their final three tune-ups next weekend at the Mickey Place Tournament in Charlottetown, P.E.I. They’ll meet UPEI, Maine at Fort Kent, and McMaster.

Women’s Hockey – The Cougars (1-1-0) opened up Canada West play at home last weekend with a split against Mount Royal, defeating MRU by a 3-2 count on Friday but losing by that same 3-2 score on Saturday. Emma Waldenberger and Jaycee Magwood both had three-point weekends for the Cougars, who continue the conference schedule on the road this Friday and Saturday with a pair of games at Lethbridge (1-1-0).

Cross Country – The Cougars will travel to the West Coast to compete in the Vikes Invitational on Saturday in Victoria. After this weekend, the team has two major meets left on the 2018 schedule – the Stewart Cup on Oct. 27 in Calgary, and the U SPORTS Championships on Nov. 10 in Kingston, Ont.
