THUNDER 69 WILDCATS 18, REGINA TO FACE SASKATOON IN PFC SEMI’S

The Regina Thunder wrapped up the regular season with a 69-18 victory in Edmonton over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon. The Thunder finish with a 5-4 record and will play Saskatoon in a PFC semi-final to start the playoffs. The Wildcats went 0-9 and will miss the post season.

QB Brock Sich, in his first career start, threw for 352 yards and five touchdowns for the Thunder on Sunday. Kris Calcutt and Levi Paul caught two touchdowns a piece while Victor St. Pierre-Laviolette ran for 155 yards and a major.

Defensively, DB Taylor Meyer had three interceptions. Marcus Hall took an interception 42 yards back for a touchdown and Ethan Englot and Robbie Lowes also picked off the Wildcats quarterback. In total the Thunder forced seven turnovers, six on interceptions.

Regina outscored Edmonton 17-0 in the first quarter and then 31-0 in the second to lead 48-0 at the half. The Thunder added seven more in the third quarter to make it a 55-0 game. The Wildcats scored all of their 18 points in the final quarter but the Thunder were too much in this one in a 69-18 win.

The Thunder (5-4) now turn their focus to the PFC semi-finals, Sunday in Saskatoon against the Hilltops (8-1). The Thunder went 0-2 against Saskatoon during the regular season, losing both by a combined six points.
