THUNDER ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

The Regina Thunder captured their first CJFL championship in franchise history with a 55-26 victory over the Vancouver Island Raiders before an estimated crowd of 5,000 at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday.  The game was carried live on 620 CKRM and Access 7.

Thunder quarterback Asher Hastings tied a CJFL record with five touchdown passes before being relieved by back-up Kyle Siemens once the game got out of reach.  For his efforts, Hastings was named the game’s offensive MVP while teammate Brett Sellinger was named defensive MVP.  Scott MacAuley, the first alumni to ever coach the Thunder, led the team to the historic national title in his first season on the sidelines.

Congratulations Thunder!

Congrats to all the thunder players and organization. Had the opportunity to coach both Asher and Brett at Martin collegiate and even though the program is now defunct these two gentlemen showed an amazing level of commitment. Proud of you both.

Coach Dom.

Randy Shaw took the shit and abuse when the bullies in town wanted the team to fail. Erwin brough stability and stabilization. Macauley performed the final details. Lets remember, the Rams did everything they could to make things tough for this program. The Thunder didnt just win, they dodged a ton of bs over the years just to survive. Time for macauley to take the Rams where they need to go?
