Thursday Commentary: And Now We Wait

Week 4 in the NFL kicks off tonight and it’s just what the doctor ordered for us Dallas Cowboys fans:

A road date with the New York Giants.

We’re only three games into the season but it’s already been a long year for the Cowboys. So far, it’s been pretty easy to keep track of – a laugher of a Week 1 opener at Cleveland where the ‘Boys smacked around the hapless Browns, followed by two embarrassing home defeats to the Saints and Ravens.

Are you following this?

Ever since AT&T Stadium opened in 2009, it hasn’t been regarded as any advantage for Dallas. At a capacity of 95,000, it’s cavernous and doesn’t seem to have the acoustics to generate any noise.

Just how big is it? You could drop the Statue of Liberty at centerfield and still close the retractable roof. (I learned that on a stadium tour).

But that’s meant nothing come playoff time, where the Cowboys habitually come up empty.

On Wednesday a Washington Commanders fan asked who I cheered and when I said “Dallas”, he laughed.

It’s quite a feeling, but such is life as a Dallas Cowboys fan.

But tonight that all changes!

The Cowboys have won eight in a row over the G-Men, and 13 of the last 14 meetings.

Dallas is going on the road with just three days rest but you don’t hear griping about short weeks or long flights in the NFL, unlike what we do from the CFL and its pundits.

Dak Prescott versus Daniel Jones? I like the Cowboys chances.

And there’s considerable heat in the Big D on linebacker Micah Parsons, who hasn’t had a sack in two games, and defensive back Trevon Diggs who has yet to record an interception after leading the league in that category not that long ago.

For the Cowboys, it’s good to go on the road and even better to have it be to New York.

And now we wait.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
