Today’s the day for random thoughts on this commentary. Here we go:

#1 – Earlier this week I talked about the gift of experience. Viewers and listeners of our Cats ‘N Bolts Florida NHL podcast said the alum they wanted to see the most is former Panther and current team broadcaster Randy Moller.

From years past I knew the only time I’d be able to get Randy was once there was a break in the schedule. Well, now the NHL has one with the annual All Star break and … we pounced.

And of course Moller didn’t disappoint. The Red Deer product played in Lethbridge & Billings in the Dub and then 14 years in the NHL before jumping into the broadcast booth for the last couple decades. He has more hockey stories than perhaps anyone I know, and I know a lot of people.

The podcast drops today and those viewers won’t be disappointed.

#2 – The Flames dealt All Star Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks and while it signals that they’re waving a white flag on the season, it doesn’t mean they’re beginning a rebuild. The trade was simply the smartest move to make for GM Craig Conroy; dealing a player who clearly wasn’t interested in re-signing when his contract expires after this season.

And wow does this make Vancouver good!

#3 – I’m interested to hear the reason why Chris Streveler signed with Winnipeg upon his return to the CFL. He’s perhaps the most famous back-up quarterback of all-time (he’s the one with the fur coat and cowboy hat at the Bombers 2019 Grey Cup parade) but given his tenure in the NFL the past four seasons, I’d have thought he’d fetch a better opportunity elsewhere in the CFL. Like maybe Ottawa, Hamilton, Saskatchewan, Edmonton or even Calgary.

#4 – And our dance card is already filling up for next week’s RP Show live from Super Bowl. These P.R. people are very aggressive and right now our biggest-name guest is Dolphins tackle Terron Armstead.

From Sask womens curling champ Skylar Ackerman to an NFL star from Miami.

Tell me another show with that range of guests!

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Elias Lindholm a National Hockey League Allstar 🤔, honestly never heard of him before until this RP article about him being traded.
