THURSDAY COMMENTARY – PERSPECTIVE
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
TWO POINTS TODAY – LOOKING BACK, AND LOOKING AHEAD.
LIFE IS ABSOLUTELY ABOUT PERSPECTIVE AND WE DEFINITELY DON’T ALL SHARE THE SAME ONE.
TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING COACH JON COOPER WAS NEARLY IN TEARS FOLLOWING GAME 4 OF THE STANLEY CUP FINAL WEDNESDAY NIGHT, BUT NOT TOTALLY BECAUSE HIS TEAM LOST 3-2 TO COLORADO IN OVERTIME.
IT’S BECAUSE REPLAYS SHOWED THE AVALANCHE HAD SIX SKATERS ON THE ICE DURING NAZEM KADRI’S WINNING GOAL. YOU HAD TO SLOW IT DOWN FRAME BY FRAME TO SEE IT, BUT EVEN THE SCORESHEET NOTED SIX SKATERS FOR THE AVS.
BUT JON MADE NO MENTION OF HIS TEAM’S INABILITY TO CHECK KADRI COMING INTO THE ZONE, NOR HIS GOALIE’S INABILITY TO STOP THE PUCK.
THE POINT IS, MISTAKES WERE MADE ALL OVER THE ICE ALL NIGHT BUT IT’S JUST EASIER TO BLAME THE REFS.
ON THE OTHER HAND, IT’S STILL NOT CLEAR WHY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON VIDEO REPLAY WHEN IN THE END, IN THE GAME’S BIGGEST MOMENTS, THEY STILL CAN’T GET THE CALL RIGHT.
BUT IT’S CALLED HUMAN ERROR. AND WHEN HUMANS BECOME PERFECT, THEN SO TOO WILL OFFICIATING.
(AKA NEVER).
LOOKING AHEAD, IT’S ONE OF THOSE PERFECT SUMMER NIGHTS FOR CFL FOOTBALL AS THE ROUGHRIDERS VISIT THE MONTREAL ALOUETTES TO KICKOFF WEEK 3.
THE RIDERS ARE LOOKING TO GO TO 3-0 FOR A SECOND STRAIGHT SEASON. THE ONLY OTHER TIME THEY’VE DONE THAT WAS 2012 AND 2013. THEY’VE ALSO WON THREE STRAIGHT OVER MONTREAL OVERALL.
THE EARLY RETURNS FOR THE GREEN & WHITE ARE BEYOND POSITIVE. THEIR 13 SACKS LEAD THE LEAGUE BY A MILE, THEY’VE ALLOWED THE FEWEST POINTS, AND QUARTERBACK CODY FAJARDO IS ATOP THE STATS AS THE MOST-ACCURATE DEEP BALL PASSER IN THE CFL.
IT’S STILL EARLY BUT IF YOU CAN’T SIT BACK AND ENJOY THIS, THEN YOU NEVER WILL.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

Coop has to suck it up. His team has benefitted from poor officiating all post season.
