Thursday Commentary: Road Warriors

Today, a salute to the road warriors.
Are you following?
The Western Canadian Baseball League playoffs opened Wednesday night and the Moose Jaw Miller Express stunned the Saskatoon Berries 6-4 at the Berry Patch in Saskatoon in Game 1 while the Regina Red Sox upended the Mavericks in Medicine Hat 6-2 in that series opener.
Now those series swing back to Southern Sask tonight with the chance for the home teams to advance to the East Final with victories.
That’s right, Carter Beck and the Berries visiting us here at Ross Wells Park in Moose Jaw. It was a sellout crowd in the Bridge City last night, and I’ll guarantee the same tonight here in the Band City.
Hey Regina — can you answer the bell at Currie Field?
Frankly, it’s as exciting as hell. And it’s heartwarming to see so many sports fans on the prairies getting fired up about playoff baseball!
It also doesn’t hurt that the CFL’s Roughriders are on a bye week and the hockey people still have their feet up at the lake. The WCBL is front and centre.
Also when the Blue Jays are winning, it’s great for baseball all across the land. Didya notice the Jays spanked the Colorado Rockies 20-1 on Wednesday to complete the sweep?
Road warriors.
Toronto is now the betting favorites to win the AL East and are off on Thursday before heading to Tinseltown for a weekend series against Shohei Ohtani and the L.A. Dodgers.
Did someone say “World Series Preview”?
