THURSDAY RUNDOWN
Thursday’s Episode #733 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – had it all! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Masters is underway and we kept a running tally of Tiger Woods’ opening round (would he make the cut?), 2) It’s MLB Opening Day! (Does anyone really care besides Producer Clark?), 3) Wednesday NHL leftovers, 4) Terrell Owens is coming out of retirement to play in the Fan Controlled Football League (does anyone remember his workout for the Roughriders in 2018?), 5) Dub Hub, and 6) The Raptors have clinched a playoff spot.
- We had some fun with the Terrell Owens story. Rod wondered if it was all a dream back in 2018 when T.O. worked out for 58 minutes for Chris Jones in South Pittsburg, TN. In the end, we guessed, Owens felt a comeback wasn’t worth it but now at age 48, he does! Viewers also chimed in with thoughts on the 2022 Roughriders and asked the panel if they’re confident in this team’s roster?
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What has your attention the most this weekend – The Masters, NHL, MLB or Other? At press time, The Masters was leading with 49% of the vote.
- Seattle Sports Radio KJR host Ian Furness joined the show from the Emerald City. Ian and Rod are old WHL pals and Furness reported that he’s called five games this season for the Kraken. He said the club’s last-place showing in their expansion year has been quite disappointing. Regarding the Russell Wilson trade, Ian said there’s still a lot of pain in the city over the trade and is still surprised that it happened.
- NLL insider Stephen Stamp of Lacrosse Link joined the show to preview this weekend’s huge schedule, the firing of Jeff McComb by the Saskatchewan Rush and the explosion of lacrosse’s popularity on the continent. Stamp said the NLL is “leaning into” the fans’ lust for blood and rough & tumble play.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Rod Black. Thursday’s was Ian Furness.
- See you at 12 pm ET on Friday for a Football Friday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive!
