IMG_4725

Football’s getting into full swing but hockey is never far from our hearts! We had big fun with our friends on Thursday’s Episode #1,071 of The RP Show on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast and YouTube Live. Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and co-host Sarina Taylor got things going with the Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays have the day off after claiming the Washington series, 2) More college football seasons kickoff on Thursday with an 11-game slate including Kent State at Central Florida and Florida at Utah, 3) Former Flames coach Bill Peters returns to coaching with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes (Sarina feels he’s served his sentence for his treatment of Akim Aliu), 4) The Toronto Argonauts make QB Chad Kelly the highest-paid player in the CFL, 5) Sheldon Keefe gets a 2-year extension as coach of the Maple Leafs and 6) Randoms.
  • The daily Key Auto Group poll question was: What’s your favorite brand of football this time of year – NFL, CFL, College/University or High School? At press time the CFL was leading by a mile.
  • Famed sportscaster Raw Mike Richards joined the show to discuss these items and more. He feels Nathan Rourke is a starting-calibre QB in the NFL and made a wise move by sticking on the Jaguars practice roster. Regarding the poll question, Mike said he loves all levels of football for different reasons. Regarding Sheldon Keefe’s extension, Mike said it doesn’t matter because, “The players call the shots on this team!”
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by WQEE Sports Beat host Richard Holdridge to talk College Football. He said folks in his region follow Auburn the most, which is surprising because you’d think it would be 2-time defending national champion Georgia. Rider great Kent Austin is Auburn’s offensive coordinator. Richard went through his standings predictions and gave a wide perspective on the college kickoff.
  • Sarina returned for the rest of Hour 2 and we discussed Rod’s NHL Pacific Division prediction. Sarina agreed that the Edmonton Oilers are likely the division’s best team.
  • If you missed the show you can catch the reply at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+TV, on our YouTube Channel or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.
  • See you at 12 pm ET for a Football Friday as we’ll be joined by Mike Vanderjagt, Jim Barker and Stevie Baggs!

ST vs RP, who would win a proposed wrestling match between these two? I’ll pick ST because RP has met his match.
