THURSDAY RUNDOWN: HUMBOLDT BRONCO RYAN STRASCHNITSKI
We had a very special guest on Thursday’s Episode #1,048 of The RP Show live from Century Downs Racetrack & Casino in Calgary on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, YouTube Live and Podcast! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup discussing these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays clinched their series at the Dodgers and now return home to face an Angels team which is a “buyer” in the playoff race, 2) Sebastian Aho becomes the highest-paid Carolina Hurricane ever. Are they closer to a Stanley Cup?, 3) Aaron Rodgers takes a $35M paycut with the NY Jets, 4) Shawn Lemon will now play for eight CFL teams but says he doesn’t want to play for nine!, 5) CFL Deal Or Nor Deal on Week 8 games, and 6) Randoms.
- ESPN Cincinnati Radio’s Mo Egger joined the show to discuss the resurgence of the Reds (“They’ve got better players,” Mo explained), and a preview of the Bengals season. Cinci’s predicted to win the AFC North, which Egger feels is the toughest division in the NFL.
- The daily Key Auto Group poll question was: Which NHL bridesmaid is the closest to winning a Stanley Cup? – Carolina, Dallas, Edmonton or Toronto? At press time the Oilers were leading by a mile.
- In Hour 2 we were joined by Humboldt Broncos bus crash survivor Ryan Stratschnitski of Airdrie, AB. Ryan was left paralyzed from the chest down after the incident and five years later, is an Adidas brand ambassador, Team Canada Sledge Hockey hopeful, avid golfer and consultant for wheelchair-accessible facilities. “Straz” said coming out of the pandemic, his mindset switched from “Why me?” to accepting what’s happened in his life, how he can help others, and be a positive figure.
- Postmedia’s Taylor Shire joined the show to preview Touchdown Atlantic featuring the Roughriders and Argonauts on Saturday in Nova Scotia and said this is the Riders’ stiffest test yet. He said the team has been tweaking the offense in order to put more points on the board.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day was John Bender. Thursday’s was Ryan Straschnitski!
