THURSDAY RUNDOWN: LABOUR DAY CLASSIC PREVIEWS, DUCKS TALK & MORE
It’s one of the biggest weeks in football and hockey is hitting the ice so we covered the tundra and ice with Episode #833 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:
- Moose joined RP from the Premiers Golf Tournament in Saskatoon for The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: BREAKING NEWS: The NFL’s Denver Broncos sign QB Russell Wilson to a 5 year/$245M contract. The guys broke it down. 1) The Blue Jays fall 7-5 to the Cubs and the Atlanta Braves beat Colorado 3-2 :), 2) Serena Williams advances at the US Open, 3) Rod’s 2022-23 NHL Central Division standings prediction is: COL-MIN-DAL-NSH // STL-WPG-CHI-ARZ. There were few arguments!, 3) Justin Trudeau calls out Hockey Canada and Rod was unimpressed by that, 4) Canada plays Sweden in the playoffs at the World Womens Hockey Championship, 5) CFL Deal or No Deal for Bet Regal – Are you taking these bets? Ottawa at Montreal (-4.5), Winnipeg (-3.5) at Sask, Toronto at Hamilton (-1) and Edmonton at Calgary (-12.5), and 6) 16 games are on tap in college football Thursday night.
- Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe joined the show from his own golf tournament at Dakota Dunes and said the province has rebounded strong from the pandemic and the agriculture industry is rocking as we head into Harvest!
- Winnipeg reporter Darrin Bauming from BonFire Sports and NHL.com joined the show to break down the Labour Day Classic in Regina. Like all LDCs, Bauming said the records don’t matter and predicts a high-scoring game despite the fact these are two of the top defenses in the CFL. Darrin feels the Bombers don’t have many faults and are well-rested coming off a bye week, while the Riders have plenty of issues to overcome. He predicted a Bomber win.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will Russell Wilson lead the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl? At press time over 70% of respondents said no.
- A special treat was a visit with Anaheim Ducks podcaster and TikTok sensation Annie O’Donnell from Southern California! Annie did a deep dive on the Ducks roster including the painful good-byes to Ryan Getzlaf, Rickard Rackell and Josh Manson but said the future is bright with the likes of Troy Terry, Trevor Zebras and Co. She observed that the bottom fell out of the Ducks season last year when GM Bob Murray stepped down and noted this will be the first full season under GM Pat Verbeek. Annie was a very popular guest and one viewer complimented her “Rockstar look”! Annie promised to come on again this winter.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Dallas Stars TV host Brian Rea. Thursday’s was Annie O’Donnell!

This was a great show. On a very separate note. Around budget time I was not impressed with the PST add on to gym memberships or the Finance Minister taking an $8000 plane ride. I emailed my MLA Laura Ross and she thanked me for the message. Yesterday I got a personal letter from Premier Scott Moe!!! He went into great detail to address my concerns.
