TICATS 52 BOMBERS 26, DREW WILLY INJURED
WINNIPEG (CP) – Zach Collaros passed for 354 yards and two touchdowns as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats scored six majors in a 52-26 rout of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.
Drew Willy, Winnipeg’s starting quarterback, left the field with a suspected head injury.
Willy was injured with 20 seconds remaining in the first quarter when he took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Ticats defensive end Adrian Tracy.
Willy appeared to be knocked out as medical staff looked at him. After a couple minutes on the turf, he walked off the field to the locker-room and was replaced by Brian Brohm.
He’s the fifth quarterback to be injured in the first two weeks of the CFL season, joining Montreal’s Jonathan Crompton and Dan LeFevour, Edmonton’s Mike Reilly and Saskatchewan veteran Darian Durant on the sidelines.
Hamilton (1-1) had a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and 38-7 at halftime. The team announced on Twitter that the 38 points was the most first-half points for a road team in 23 years.
Collaros completed 26-of-33 pass attempts, including a 35-yard toss to Bakari Grant and a three-yard pass to Terrence Toliver.
Hamilton kicker Justin Medlock was good on field goals from 19, 32 and 38 yards and made all his converts.
Willy was 3-of-6 for 48 yards. Brohm finished 16-of-28 for 146 yards and two interceptions. He scored a touchdown on a 16-yard run in front of 27,279 fans at the Bombers home opener at Investors Group Field.
Winnipeg (1-1) scored points off a 13-yard run by Paris Cotton and a four-yarder by Cameron Marshall.
The first defender tackled Cotton quite often tonight. Mind you, they were using their arms and hands.

CFL Quarterbacks are going down like flies. Winnipeg was no contest with Hamilton , Willy or no Willy. Bombers played over their head against the Banged up Riders.
The last man standing point has a lot of validity. Hamilton's size does seem to be far and away greater than the other teams in the league. They have an outstanding QB and protect him well. They are very deep in Canadian talent which is a Tillman and Austin trade mark. At every phase of the game they seem to superior to everyone including Calgary. Who will stop them? Certainly not the Riders. They are now the model to to build on.
It's going to boil down to two former Roughriders quarterbacks who are now both coach and GM of their respective teams. John Hufnagel or Kent Austin, take your pick. They're head and shoulders above any one else in the league and Jim Hopson should be tar and feathered for not giving Kent Austin the key to the team. The glory years are done.
Banged up Riders? How about no depth Riders.
How about give it a rest for a change. You are getting a bit boring.
