TICATS SIGN HOFFMAN-ELLIS

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday that the football club has signed international free agent linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis to a two-year contract.

Hoffman-Ellis, 26, posted 57 defensive tackles and three interceptions in 17 games (10 starts) with the B.C. Lions in 2015, his first full CFL season. He played one game in 2014 for the Lions, his CFL debut on November 7versus Calgary, collecting eight defensive tackles and one forced fumble.

The 6-0, 230-pound native of Los Angeles, California was an undrafted free agent signing of the St. Louis Rams in 2012 and attending the team’s training camp. Prior to turning pro, Hoffman-Ellis appeared in 35 games over three seasons at Washington State, collecting 178 defensive tackles and four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.
