TSN: CORTEZ AND MALONE TO THE LIONS
The B.C. Lions have made contract offers to the coaching staff, including former Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive coordinator George Cortez.
While Cortez will head up the offence, new head coach Jeff Tedford will be heavily involved with building the offence and potentially calling plays.
Former Roughriders offensive line coach Doug Malone will also be joining Cortez in Vancouver.
Chuck McMann remains as the team’s special teams coach with the addition of running backs coach to his portfolio.
Tedford will also add quality control assistants before training camp begins in June.

MEANWHILE…
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club officially confirmed Tuesday afternoon that offensive line coach Dan Dorazio, defensive line coach Carl Hairston, running backs coach Kelly Bates and receivers coach Joe Paopao will not return to the team in 2015.
“My thanks go out to each of these men for their time and their dedication to our club,” said VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono. “We wish them the very best in the future.”
The club will make a formal announcement of its 2015 coaching staff in coming days when all positions have been confirmed by head coach Jeff Tedford.
Yeah that George Cortez is obviously a dummy, he was out of work for a real long time.
Don't think anybody ever said he was a dummy. Only a control freak and hard headed ego maniac who can't relate to the players.
I would be surprised if any of the players or coaches for that matter are sorry to see him go.
The George Cortez hiring by the BC Lions a great addition to their coaching staff.
Anon #3, Where did you get that info from?
He'll be fine until Lulay gets smacked.
Worked for Tedford at Cal, I called it as soon as Tedford was rumoured to be the Leo’s HC
Nick Saban said and Obama did to that high achieving people have problems with mediocre people and vice versa. – let someoe else guide the backups and young Tino Sunseri. George will head over to lotus land and work with Travis Lulay. Tedford is no idiot either so do you want yes men or guys that will get it done. Same old sorry a## Roughriders.
Good work George, trade in ur shovel for an umbrella, will be nice to have a back up QB…
Cortez will do in BC what he's done everywhere he's been. He'll succeed initially and then quickly wear out his welcome and his players will quit on him. The guy is a smart man. He knows football better than anyone. He just doesn't know people.
To Annon #2:
As a Rider fan, I whole heartedly agree!
I recommend the great article by Mike Silver on the NFL website today called "Toast of Tinseltown". It is about Aaron Rogers and in it Aaron talks about Coach Tedford.

This isn't official until the Green Zone says it is. Just ask them and their 40 listeners. Did I say 40? I'm too kind!

Seeing how well Cortez worked with and developed the back-up QB's when Durant went down, I'm sure BC is salivating at the opportunity Cortez will have when Travis "I'm made of Glass don't hit me" Lulay goes down yet again. He's proven to be a real benefit as long as you have your #1 starter healthy.

I hope Malone does as good a job of coaching the O Line in BC as he did with the Riders. Of course BC rarely gets called for holding except on 2nd down incompletions.
Annnnd if things don't work out in BC they will run George out of town…right up the middle, just the way he likes it.

Someone said Cortez worked for Tedford at Cal. That's true until Tedford fired him. After that, Cal steadily declined until Tedford was fired by the AD.
