Tuesday Commentary: A Little Too Late
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: It’s not good for Minnesota Vikings fans. Not good at all. But for fans of an inspirational story, it sure is.
The L.A. Rams showed no signs of being distracted by the wildfires which forced Monday’s playoff game to be moved to Arizona. Matthew Stafford and company raced out to a 10-lead over the Vikings, and poured it on in a 27-9 victory which has moved them onto Round 2 and a date with the Eagles next Sunday.
Los Angeles needed some good news, and they got it.
Next the great: If you’re a hockey fan in the NHL’s Bermuda Triangle (the area that connects Winnipeg, Calgary & Edmonton), take a minute and smell the roses!
As of today, the Jets, Flames and Oilers are all in playoff spots. Calgary is perilously so after Monday’s 6-2 win at Chicago but there’s no reason to think they won’t achieve the playoffs even if we’re only just past the midway mark.
The Canucks’ infighting seems to be their downfall so the door is open for the scrappy Flames. Bravo Ryan Huska!
And lastly, the Ugly: Seriously considering switching my NFL allegiances from the Dallas Cowboys. And as you know, I don’t do these things lightly.
We learned last week Cowboys owner & GM Jerry Jones refused the Chicago Bears’ request to interview Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy for their job. On Monday, he fired him.
So Jerry denied Chicago and McCarthy that opportunity even though he knew he was going to fire him all along, just to be jerk.
Does that sound like somebody you’d like to work for?
I have. And it’s a ticket to Nowhere-ville.
Cowboys icon Troy Aikman is getting some pub for his comments last night that the Dallas head coaching job is “not coveted” by those in the NFL coaching fraternity.
It took Aikman to say it for fans around the world to realize what us Cowboys fans have known for years?
I guess it takes public incidents like this for people to finally wake up and start asking questions about things that’ve gone on for decades.
Trouble is by then, it’s usually too late.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
