It’s Tuesday and you know what that means; time for another edition of the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: With the Grey Cup behind us, it’s time to turn our attention to all the other football leagues.

Sure the NFL and College Football are the best of the best and their biggest games have yet to be played, but don’t forget about Canada’s national university championship which will be played on Saturday in London, ON between the Saskatchewan Huskies and Laval.

It’s redemption time for the Dogs, and it’ll be on CBC.

Next, the great: I get tingles thinking about jumping on the NHL bandwagon with both feet for the next six months!

And consider this stat from NHL Radio’s Scott Laughlin on Monday’s RP Show: teams whom are in a playoff spot at U.S. Thanksgiving (this Thursday) will go on to make the playoffs over 90% of the time.

That’s great news for the Jets and Leafs and so/so news for the Flames and Oilers.

And Anaheim can probably call it a season already.

And lastly, the ugly: It’s the plight the CFL currently finds itself in.

They’re darned if they do and darned if they don’t.

Literally any move they make gets met by rage from a triggered fanbase, but they’re going to have to make a lot of improvements if this league is going to survive and thrive.

I think we all heard Commissioner Randy Ambrosie get booed upon his introduction at Grey Cup on the weekend and it’s a telltale sign of his popularity in this country.

Now’s the time to admit faults and get better.

Or, keep chugging along and ignore the signs. The choice is always theirs.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Aside from him getting booed – it did not go unnoticed he almost said Winnipeg and I also noticed there was no happy embrace of Larry Tannebaum or acknowledgement of the great ownership that is MLSE. The Argonauts just got #18…..and their 8th since 1990 and the first I ever seen was in 1983. The Argos should give their notice similar to Oklahoma/Texas, USC/UCLA and head to a new league. I have this vision they show up on XFL TV with the Grey Cup similar to Ric Flair in 1991 showing up on WWF TV with the big gold NWA… Read more »

Hey Ambrosie

Here’s your marketing slogan why people need to support and attend these games.

“Players in the CFL play with scars, man. We have deep scars that this game has implanted on us that makes us play for a bigger reason. We play for a bigger ‘why.’ We play with more heart. We play with passion and when you have 24 guys on a football field playing with that bigger ‘why,’ playing with a deeper love for the game, games are going to come down to this and they’re never going to be decided.”
