It’s Tuesday and of course you know what that means – time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: There’s certainly something in the air when it comes to the baseball playoffs.

Ratings are up 18% from last year and pretty much everyone can agree last year’s World Series match-up was a dud: Texas versus Arizona.

But this year we’re on track for a dream World Series. The Yankees are plowing their way to the final, dusting Cleveland 5-2 in Game 1 of the ALCS on Monday.

And they’ll face either the L-A Dodgers or New York Mets for it all. The NLCS is tied 1-1.

No wonder ratings are up!

Next the great: Today is the one-week mark for the NHL season and fans, in some markets, are a-tizzy with what’s gone on. These teams are all 3-0: Winnipeg, Calgary, Vegas and Dallas. Oddly, there’s not one unbeaten team in the East!

Who’s winless? Oh just conference heavyweights like Edmonton and Colorado. And even Nashville.

That’s not great, but the thrills and chills provided every single night certainly are.

And finally, the ugly: New coach, same result for the New York Jets.

Actually I’ve got to let it go that the USA Today predicted the Gotham Green to play in the Super Bowl this year. We all whiff now and then.

And less than a week after turfing coach Robert Saleh, the Jets lost 23-20 to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football to drop to 2-4.

Somewhere I saw a pundit say that New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers may not have been behind Saleh getting fired, but he darned sure could’ve saved him.

But he didn’t.

What on earth would’ve ever made you think this team is headed to the Super Bowl?

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
