TUESDAY COMMENTARY – SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)

IT’S TUESDAY AND THAT MEANS ANOTHER EDITION OF THE GOOD, THE GREAT, & THE UGLY!

FIRST THE GOOD: THE CFL DRAFT GOES TONIGHT AND YOU CAN WATCH THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS ON TSN BEGINNING AT 6:00 PM.

YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD ROUGHRIDERS HAVE THE SEVENTH PICK IN EACH ROUND SO WHO KNOWS WHO’LL BE LEFT AVAILABLE WHEN GM JEREMY O’DAY HAS HIS FINGER ON THE BUTTON?

THE DRAFT MAY NOT BE MUST-SEE TV, BUT IT IS A MUST AND WE’LL BE FOLLOWING.

MORE IMPORTANTLY IT’S LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TILL TRAINING CAMP STARTS AND WHILE THE RIDERS MAY NOT BE GREY CUP FAVOURITES, THEY’RE CERTAINLY CONTENDERS AND WE CAN’T ASK FOR MUCH MORE.

NEXT, THE GREAT: OF COURSE IT’S THE STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS! MONDAY’S OPENING NIGHT HAD MORE UPS AND DOWNS THAN A RIDE AT CALAWAY PARK AND MOST OF THEM CAME IN THE OILERS/KINGS GAME ALONE!
CONNOR MCDAVID’S END-TO-END GOAL WAS AS GREAT AS YOU’LL EVER SEE, HOWEVER A LATE GAME GAFFE BY OILERS GOALIE MIKE SMITH COST EDMONTON THE GAME.

SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.

AND LASTLY, THE UGLY: THIS ONE’S EASY. ONE OF THE BIGGEST NFL STARS, ARIZONA CARDINALS RECEIVER DEANDRE HOPKINS, HAS BEEN SUSPENDED SIX GAMES WITHOUT PAY FOR USING A BANNED SUBSTANCE.

THEY MUST HAVE A PREPARED STATEMENT FOR THESE DOPERS ONCE THEY GET CAUGHT BECAUSE THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. HOPKINS SAID HE’S “SHOCKED AND CONFUSED” THAT THIS HAPPENED, THAT HE’S VERY CAREFUL WHAT HE PUTS IN HIS BODY, AND THEN ISSUED A PROFUSE APOLOGY TO CARDINALS FANS.

I HAVE TO ASK, WHAT ARE YOU APOLOGIZING FOR IF YOU DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG??

AGAIN, SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV across Canada and the USA. Call your cable provider for details. You can also watch on YouTube Live and listen 24/7 at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive)
