Tuesday Commentary: The Good, The Great & The Ugly
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for this week’s The Good, The Great & The Ugly!
First the good: Hope you had a good Victoria Day Weekend! Doesn’t it seem like a month ago that world #1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested on Day 2 of the PGA Championship for not obeying traffic laws at the golf course in Kentucky? It was only on Friday.
I think it’s good that everyone learned a valuable lesson in that situation, and Scheffler got out of jail in time for his 10:08 am tee time:
Obey the law or suffer the consequences.
Next the great: We’re down to the Final Four in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and no matter who wins, it’s going to mark the end of a long drought.
Edmonton will face Dallas in the West, while Florida faces New York in the East, with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line.
The Oilers, Stars and Rangers haven’t won the Cup since the 90’s while the Panthers never have.
You want a prediction? I’ve got the Stars and Rangers to win this round.
And finally the ugly: There’s more debate about the size of the crowd for Monday’s Rider preseason game than there is about the fact the Green & White downed Winnipeg 25-12.
It’s truly a glass half-full/half-empty situation there. On the half-full side, it’s true that it was only preseason and those crowds aren’t generally strong. And on the field, the Riders looked pretty darn good in all three phases generally.
On the half-empty side, that’s a generous term as it relates to the crowd. It was a good-sized crowd for a Rams game, but pretty poor for a pro team which was once the CFL’s flagship franchise.
And don’t get me going on the stats.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Ambrosie’s entire stats department needs an apple and a road map.
That pre season game is an indicator of more to come. Go woke yer going broke. Join the Board to virtue signal and align individual organizations to the brand. Karma doesn’t forget addresses. The sincere wish as a season ticket holder in the final season if this trauma bond is this. I wish upon the Riders what has happened to the Edmonton football organization. In this case there will be no private ownership coming to rescue. Also shout out to potential Edmonton buyers. If you really want to drive the selling price through the floorboard I have some advice. Edmonton… Read more »
What makes you think that John Chick hasn’t been ASKED to join the Plaza of Honour? Maybe he refused! He maybe still is ticked at being let go and resents everything Riders.
…that would be a statement on their CEO. Probably why they didn’t put individuals of the golden Era in. Who wants to be told to F.O or would no show. This organization had the first tandem of black GM & Head Coach in North American Football. Think about that. I think the Historian when he worked for the 5th estate had a column “Mediocre” Considering what they inherited that build the foundation for 2007 Yet those 2 just from a “Diversity is Stength” stand point can’t get a sniff. My guess is the Roughriders Board/Management would be the types that… Read more »
I had no idea there was a Rider home game on Monday until after kick off. Would have made the trip had I known.
