TUESDAY RIDER PRACTICE NOTES
PRACTICE NOTES
– The Riders announced during practice that Saturday’s home game against Calgary is a sellout.
– Not practicing: SB Chris Getzlaf, LB Jake Doughty, OT Levy Adcock.
– Practicing: FB Scott McHenry, SB Weston Dressler, DB Marshay Green, DB Keenan MacDougall.
– There’s a new DB/LB practicing, #22, but the team wasn’t in a position to announce who he is.
– During stretching at the start of the workout, RB Anthony Allen and defensive line coach Mike Sinclair got into a verbal spat. Allen slammed his helmet to the turf. He was escorted to the locker room and didn’t return.
* Coach Corey Chamblin said afterwards that it was an “innocent situation” and that Allen is going through lots in his personal life including the illness of a loved one. He said the issue has been patched up.
– Rookie wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt made the catch of practice, while on scout team, a beauty onehanded behind-the-back grab from rookie QB Blake Sims.
– Assistant coach Bobby Dyce was flagging penalties. If guilty of an infraction, that whole side of the ball had to drop and do push-ups.
Rod – I know its only practise with limited reps but can you give us an update on how Sims and Price are looking – thanks
When is Shea Emery due back? Or is he?
Agreed. Rod is Shea back this year or out the year or longer as some rumours have said?
Great news out of Calgary with the announcement of a new football and sports facility. The Stamps trying to keep up with the Joneses in Sask.
New stadium in Regina out of date. No roof, prone to flooding with that design. You know Alberta, nothing but the best will be the result for Calgary's new venture.
Lol… prone to flooding? You need to study up on architecture and civil engineering my friend. You have zero idea what you're talking about!
No need to study, it will flood. Enginerred structural design already compromised by cost cutting due to unforseen hurried architectural circumstance. Translucent cheap mess not conducive to a harsh unpredictable prairie weather element for the term duration of reference, thirty years plus. It could have been so much more, but …. It's still something, better than nothing.
Haha right. They're cost cutting on the stadium… you're out of your mind if you think it's going to be cheap. You just don't understand architecture. Simple minder angry people like you need to mind their own business since you have no intent of contributing to society.
It is too bad that I do not attend a single second of Rider practice and know everything about roster moves and lineups by simply visiting a few sites. "Fans" and media of the team continually show how they prefer entitlement over actually supporting the team. I am not saying this ultimately decided who wins and loses but one "fan" on a certain forum essentially commented every lineup on defense and offense. How does that help this team? Do you not think other teams visit the site knowing they will find pertinent info. Isn't that why the coach closed practices… Read more »
Push-ups? I thought this was a professional football team.
If a player is flagged in practice too many times, NEXT MAN UP! The offender can watch from the sidelines the rest of the drill or practice. If too much practice time is lost by the player they cannot start. Who wants to play winning football?
Push-ups indeed. Fire the incompetent who came up with that one.
Typically, Rod only answers questions on his blog if it's personal friends asking or if it's to continue and argument. Most others are ignored.
There's a new DB/LB practicing, #22, but the team wasn't in a position to announce who he is.
What does that mean? They don't know who it is, the person is getting out of witness protection? His contract isn't done?
To the guy that thinks push-ups are childish, I disagree. When in military boot camp (many years ago), the idea that we has to constantly do push-ups for the fault of any one of our team members, actually, works very effectively. Trust me, the guy who causes it will feel guilty; but worse, they guys who are punished for the fault of the wrongdoer, they will ensure to get back at, or at least have a stern talking with, the original problem individual. —–There are a few other levels to that: 1) Have the offender watch his team-mates do the… Read more »
Wake me up when they come back from vacation. Oh !!!! the're back. Well then, wake me up after this lost season is over or they clean house. Whatever comes first.
Dean
Bye Dean. See you when they're winning again.
Not Dean
It's not that Rod won't answer the question about Emry. He will once he gets told by the Riders what he is allowed to say ….. even though everyone already knows that Emry is done.
The leadership of Chamblin and Sinclair speaks volumes to why we are 0-7.
#22 is Don Unamaba – could bring some competition to Macho Harris.
Another Winnipeg cut. Yep that will help. It pains me to say this and I expect a piling on here but the ONLY way to punt this regime and get a real GM is an 0-18 finish to the season.
I believe the first drawings and plans for the new stadium in Regina turned out to be vastly different from reality. I expect much of the same out of Calgary.
itll end up being a rink for the flames and thats it.
So they have to do push-ups after getting flagged in practice huh?
Riders may not have the fastest team, but if they continue this “practice penalty system” in place throughout the rest of the year they will be the strongest.
Jeff Fairholm @Slotback18
@sportscage I do have hope for the Riders but everything I read and here suggests they are imploding!
everything I read and here (hear) suggests they are imploding!
extremly interesting comment from someone who KNOWS !!!!!!!!
"it will flood"
Good God, where do these idiots come from!
Noah
Knock knock
Who's there
Owen
Owen who?
0 and 8
owen ate… what did owen eat? and can we have some? no owen said what he ate wasnt very good.
Mr Sinclair doesn't have alot of grounds to be tossing barbs at players that aren't playing (Even though Allen should be playing) seeing as his D line has been the worst in the league thus far.
Allen will likely tear it up with another team next year.
