TUESDAY RUNDOWN: BEDARD SWEEPSTAKES, CFL RULE CHANGES & MORE

We were back in our comfy confines for Tuesday’s Episode #996 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – on Game+ TV, WQEE and Streaming! Here’s the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got it all going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers including Vegas smoking Edmonton 5-1, 2) Chicago wins the Connor Bedard Sweepstakes! Rod likes it while Darren *hates* it!, 3) The Blue Jays open a 2-game series at Philadelphia on Tuesday, 4) Seattle will face Winnipeg in the WHL Final and the ICE are moving into Canada Life Centre for the series, 5) The Centennial Cup opens on Thursday in Portage, and 6) CFL rule changes. Moose, the football guy, likes the tweaks and said the most significant is that kickoffs no longer need to be touched in the end zone to count for a rouge.
• Winnipeg Sports Talk’s Andrew “Hustler” Paterson joined the show and bemoaned Connor Bedard going to a Central Division team (more tough competition for the Jets). Hustler applauds the ICE moving into the Jets arena and feels the crowds could push the 10,000 mark. He feels the ICE players deserve to play on the big stage. Regarding the Jets, Andrew feels the relationship between coach Rick Bowness and the players can be repaired. He feels the Jets fanbase is 100% behind “Bones”.
• The Key Auto Group daily poll question was: Who’s the Western Conference Stanley Cup favourite – Dallas, Edmonton, Seattle or Vegas? At press time, the Oilers were leading.
• Sportsnet analyst and former NHL’er Luke Gazdic joined the show in Hour 2 and said he “doesn’t love” Connor Bedard going to Chicago, given the Blackhawks/Kyle Beach scandal. Regarding the Leafs being down 3-0 to the Panthers in Round 2, he feels the coaches and players can all share the blame. He also feels his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, are nowhere near out of the Vegas series.
• Monday’s Rockstar of the Day was hockey analyst Sarina Taylor. Tuesday’s was Hustler!
