TUESDAY RUNDOWN: CFL BUZZ, STANLEY CUP, NHL AWARDS & MORE

On the first day of summer we began our latest residency at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino with Episode #783 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Rod and Bo Levi meet up (sort of) at a celebrity golf classic, 2) Tampa Bay routs Colorado 6-2 to get back in the Stanley Cup Final, 3) The NHL Awards go Tuesday night, 4) Saint John beats Hamilton 5-3 to open the Memorial Cup, 5) The White Sox down the Blue Jays 8-7, and 6) The CFL Top Performers of the Week are named, plus “Who’s the CFL’s best team?”
  • News broke during the show that former Roughriders Roy Shivers and Paul McCallum are among the 2022 Canadian Football Hall of Fame class. Rod told stories of both, and suggested they be added to the Riders’ Plaza of Honour.
  • Bet Regal NHL Ambassador Bernie Nicholls joined the show to discuss Tampa Bay’s big win and said he knew the Cup champs wouldn’t go away quietly. The Kings and Rangers great explained why the playoffs are an entirely new season, and discussed his latest favourite streaming shows!
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should be the NHL’s GM of the Year – Joe Sakic, Bill Zito, Brad Treliving or other? At press time, Sakic was leading with over 70% of the vote.
  • NHL.com’s Julie Stewart-Binks – formerly of CTV Regina – joined the show from Tampa Bay in advance of the NHL Awards and previewed the event saying it was set up like a wedding! She explained the Lightning’s big win got Tampa Bay buzzing and broke down the series so far.
  • Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Natasha Staniczewski. Tuesday’s was JSB!
