TUESDAY RUNDOWN: FARHAN, DOWBIGGIN, PENGUINS, PACIFIC DIVISION AND MORE

We’re hitting our groove as we approach midweek on The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays snap a 3-game slide with a 5-4 win over the Cubs in 11 innings (Can we hurry up and get to the playoffs already??), 2) Rod’s 2022-23 NHL Pacific Division prediction is: Edmonton-Calgary-Los Angeles-Anaheim//Vegas-Vancouver-San Jose-Seattle, 3) A Pittsburgh Penguins preview (they’ll be old, and are keeping the gang together for one last kick at the Cup), 4) What’s the latest on the CFL? Gary Stern’s friends warn people to stay out of the Alouettes ownership mess, 5) It’s cutdown day in the NFL; which former CFLers are on the block? and 6) Canada faces USA at the World Womens Hockey Championship and the Brandon Wheat Kings hire Marty Murray as GM.
  • Famed broadcaster & author Bruce Dowbiggin joined the show to promote his new book INEXACT SCIENCE, where he and his son Glen take a look at six of the wildest drafts in NHL history. Dowbiggin joined the show from Calgary and it was a fascinating NHL scouting/drafting chat between Bruce and Rod, whom have made several appearances on air together over the years.

  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will win the NHL’s Pacific Division this year – Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver or Other? At press time, the Oilers were leading the vote on both Twitter and YouTube.
  • In Hour 2 Moose Dupont joined the show again from Candle Lake where he and Rod looked at this week’s CFL games, made more predictions on the NHL season plus college football with viewers, and much more. They also discussed the latest fracas involving the Roughriders and bad boy defensive lineman Garrett Marino. Some viewers said it was fake news.
  • TSN Vancouver reporter Farhan Lalji joined the show to discuss all kinds of things including how the BC Lions will fare without injured QB Nathan Rourke. (Farhan fears he may not return this season). He also talked about the scarcity of top-end QB talent in the CFL and how that should be a concern to the league. Rod and Farhan also compared covering different leagues from the NHL to NFL to NBA to CFL. Farhan said the CFL is the best in terms of dealing with the players and coaches. He also gave an outlook on the Vancouver Canucks and sees no peaceful resolution to the J.T. Miller/Canucks relationship.
  • Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was ESPN Cincinnati’s Mo Egger. Tuesday’s was one of our viewers!
