TUESDAY RUNDOWN: MATT KELLETT! PLUS MORE GREAT SPORTS TALK

It’s not everyday you get an 8-year CFL veteran pop by your show but that was the case on Tuesday’s Episode #743 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Here’s the day’s rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Raptors stay alive AGAIN, beating Philadelphia 103-88 to force Game 6 on Thursday, 2) The NHL’s scored the most goals since 93-94. Why?, 3) Are we seeing enough hype for the junior hockey playoffs?, 4) Bo Bichette’s first career grand slam powers the Blue Jays to a 6-2 win over Boston and an AL East-leading 11-6 record, 5) The NFL Draft begins on Thursday. Do we care?, and 6A) World Mixed Doubles Curling and 6B) The Blue Bombers announce their fan vaccination policy for the 2022 season.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Why is scoring WAY up in the NHL? More Skill, Less Hitting, Goalie Equipment or Other? At press time, More Skill and Less Hitting were neck-and-neck.
• Former CFL kicker Matt Kellett (Lions, Eskimos, Roughriders, Alouettes and Renegades) dropped by the show for an extended chat in Hour 2. The Regina product, former Ram and Huskie, told great stories of his career and of playing for legends like Frank McCrystal, Don Matthews and Joe Paopao. Matt said he’s taken those life lessons and applied them in the three Orange Theory Fitness studios he owns and operates, and coaching minor hockey. Matt also gave his opinions on potential CFL rule changes, and feels the game doesn’t need to be changed at all.
• TSN 1260 Edmonton host Jason Gregor joined the show to discuss the stretch drive and potential playoff pairings. He doesn’t feel the Oilers will have much problem with L.A. in Round 1 and said the Oilers have been the NHL’s 5th-best team in the New Year. He explained that every player is playing better. Regarding Elks season being right around the corner, Jason said fans are worried the team doesn’t have a marquee quarterback.
• Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Greg Peterson. Tuesday’s was Matt Kellett.
