TUESDAY RUNDOWN: NHL, CFL, NFL TALK – AKA THE USUAL!
Some of our best sports friends joined Tuesday’s Episode #850 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – and we dissected breaking news on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Dallas Cowboys upset the NY Giants 23-16 on Monday Night Football, 2) The Blue Jays beat the Yankees 3-2 in 10 innings and kept Aaron Judge in the yard, 3) Who’s the best team in the NHL? (Rod says Calgary, Darren says Carolina), 4) The Riders suspend QB Jake Dolegala one game for an impaired driving charge, 5) CFL Playoff scenarios, and 6) Junior hockey notes. Who are the Memorial Cup favourites from each league?
- News broke during the show that the Calgary Stampeders have signed quarterback Jake Maier to a 2-year extension past this season. Where does this leave Bo Levi Mitchell? The panel debated this and all the latest CFL happenings entering Week 17.
- NHL analyst Matthew Barnaby joined the show from Ottawa and said the NHL’s best team remains Colorado until someone proves otherwise. However he’s bullish on the positivity and improvement with the Ottawa Senators, and said the Buffalo Sabres may surprise (although they’re still very young). Regarding major junior hockey, Matthew said Hamilton will take a step back this year, the Ottawa 67’s will be better and his former team – the Quebec Remparts – could very well represent the QMJHL at the Memmer in Kamloops. Barney promoted his new book which is due out in November and other events he’s involved with this Fall.
- The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which NFL team is in the most trouble – Las Vegas, Houston, L.A. Chargers or other? At press time, the Raiders were leading.
- TSN Ottawa’s Claire Hanna joined the show and said it’s been a thrill covering the Senators training camp and preseason. Regarding the optimism in Ottawa with the Senators, Claire said it’s a “15 out of 10”. She also discussed the struggles of the CFL’s RedBlacks and said even though the club is 0-7 at home this season, the fans continue to pack the park and have a great time at the games.
- Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Mike Richards. Tuesday’s was Claire Hanna.
