TUESDAY RUNDOWN: OILERS, CFL AND MORE

Tuesday’s Episode #1,125 of The RP Show was marked by some great guests and fabulous sports discussion, sprinkled with some breaking news! Sportsnet Oilers host Gene Principe joined the show fresh off Edmonton’s 5-3 loss at Florida Monday night. Gene said the Oilers are very puzzling club, as he feels they’re a very good team but their record doesn’t match. He answered viewer questions, explained how the media deals with fans’ angst, and got into the Twitter spat between Edmonton reporter Mark Spector and former NHL referee Tim Peel which was Tuesday’s hot topic in the NHL.

News came down during the show that Bruins forward Milan Lucic entered a not guilty plea for the domestic battery charge he’s facing and Rod explained why the NHL veteran may not face further suspension.

Sportsnet’s Arash Madani joined the show for a 110th Grey Cup wrap and said Montreal’s victory over Winnipeg on Sunday was no bigger of an upset than Toronto’s win over the Bombers in the big game last year. He feels Winnipeg needs to take a long look at themselves moving forward. Madani also said he doesn’t really understand the NBA’s new In-Season Tournament (Rod agreed) and said the league is just looking for attention during a slow month. He also explained why he’s so excited about the chances of his beloved Minnesota Vikings!
