IMG_5136

After a great Easter weekend we were back at it Tuesday with Episode #739 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP & Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Easter weekend recap, 2) Monday’s NHL leftovers and the latest on Carey Price, 3) The Raptors are down 0-2 to the 76ers, 4) The Blue Jays lead the AL East at 6-4 and visit Boston Tuesday night, 5) The USFL kicks off, and how does it relate to the CFL?, 6A) Junior hockey weekend recap and 6B) The Rush keep their playoff hopes alive with a 9-8 home win over Colorado.
  • 815 game NHL veteran and Flames Stanley Cup champion Tim Hunter came down to Grey Eagle for a wide-ranging visit. The Calgary product – and former head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors – discussed the Flames’ most recent games and playoff outlook. Hunter feels this Calgary team has what it takes and predicts they’ll represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup final against either Tampa Bay or Florida. Tim also told many stories from his 11 seasons with the Flames and gave a life update.

  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will the Raptors come back to beat Philadelphia? At press time over 70 of respondents said no.
  • Moose rejoined the program for Hour 2 and the guys went deep on the USFL games this past weekend, the impressive quality of play, and the immediate future of the CFL. There was plenty of input from the viewers and they generally gave the thumbs-up to the USFL. The guys also discussed the many CFL alumni in the league – including Corey Chamblin, Jim Popp, Jason Garrett and Mike Riley – and compared the two leagues.
  • Estevan Bruins Head Coach/GM Jason Tatarnic joined the show from his office at Affinity Place to preview the SJHL championship against Flin Flon which opens Friday in the Energy City. Both teams have qualified for the Centennial Cup next month in Estevan however “Tarts” feels both the Bruins and Bombers both want to go in the front door. Jason also previewed the Bruins Sportsmans Dinner on May 26 featuring the Hot Stove with TSN’s Craig Button and Rod. You can get tickets by calling the Bruins office.
  • Last Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. Tuesday’s was Tim Hunter.
  • See you at 12 pm ET Wednesday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive! On the guest list is Ben Hebert.
