TUESDAY RUNDOWN: TOM BRADY, WINNIPEG JETS, CAREY PRICE & MORE!

We got to the bottom of things on Episode #687 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – on Tuesday! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tom Brady announces his retirement on Instagram. What are your best Brady memories? 2) NHL Monday games, 3) The NHL relaxes its Covid testing after the All Star break, 4) The Raptors upset the Hawks 106-100, 5) It’s Day 5 at the Scotties, 6A) A handful of Canadian delegates go into Covid protocol in Beijing, and 6) CFL notes: Cody Fajardo takes a paycut.
  • Rod’s best memories are of Tom Brady overcoming the Gretzky-like hate to win seven Super Bowls, and his fifth NFL title when the Patriots came back from a 28-3 third quarter deficit against Atlanta. Moose’s best Brady memory was winning last year’s Super Bowl with Tampa.
  • Winnipeg Sports Talk host Hustler Paterson joined the show to examine the Jets. He feels it’s not time to blow up the club and be sellers at the deadline given that there’s still half a season to go. However he admitted the team has been playing uninspired and Mark Scheifele’s recent play and comments are concerning. He also agreed that perhaps Paul Maurice saw this coming when he stepped down in December. Hustler’s broadcast live from many Super Bowls and told some of his best memories from Super Bowl Weeks gone by.
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 beer, RP and Moose discussed a lot of CFL including some Chris Jones stories and Cody Fajardo restructuring his contract. They also talked about Evander Kane and the play of Connor Hellebuyck.
  • Sportsnet Montreal’s Eric Engels joined the show and went deep on Carey Price’s news conference this week where he divulged that he’d like to get into a game this season. Eric revealed that the news conference took a dark turn, which wasn’t Carey’s intent. Regarding this Habs season, Eric feels the club could deal goaltender Jake Allen prior to the trade deadline and said Montrealers have experienced a wide range of emotions with the club going from first-to-w0rst in less than one year.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should the Oilers acquire in goal – Martin Jones, Marc-Andre Fleury, Braden Holtby or other? At press time, the Flower was leading.
  • Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Matthew Barnaby. Tuesday’s was Hustler Paterson.
