TWEET TO FACE WALKER IN COSTA MESA

Like whiskey and wine, Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet is getting better with age.

Although Tweet is now 39 years of age, she is a dominating force in women’s mixed martial arts. Tweet, who is ranked top-10 in the world by every ratings tracker (as high as #7), will ride a hot streak into her return to Invicta Fighting Championships on Saturday, May 7th in Costa Mesa, California.

On the Invicta FC 17 card, Tweet takes on LaToya Walker in a top contender’s bout with the moving to the front of the line for a shot at the Invicta featherweight title.

“I get better and stronger as I age,” said Tweet.

Tweet has won four of his last five bouts, including this past March when she captured the Prestige FC featherweight title via a commanding five-round decision over Jessy Miele. The victory was particularly sweet for Tweet as she earned the championship belt in front of her home-town fans in Regina, Saskatchewan. Prior to that win, Tweet defeated her nemesis Anna Barone with a first-round TKO finish at the inaugural Prestige FC event.

A pioneer in Canadian women’s MMA, Tweet earned his first win under the Invicta banner in September 2014 when she notched the first knockout of her career in stopping Veronica Rothenhausler in the first round.  Tweet remains the only fighter to face the two most-recognized names in women’s MMA – UFC superstar and former champion Ronda Rousey, and former Invicta champion and legendary striker Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.

Prior to launching her career in MMA, Tweet was a wrecking ball in professional kickboxing as she totaled an impressive 10-1-1 record featuring the IFMA light-middleweight and IKF welterweight titles, both captured in 2009.
