TWO RIDERS GET PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TORONTO (CP) – Hamilton quarterback Dan LeFevour was named CFL offensive player of the week Monday after leading the Tiger-Cats to a 33-23 win over Ottawa in his first career CFL start.

LeFevour completed 21 of 30 passes for 361 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Banks on Hamilton’s first possession of Saturday’s game. He also rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown.

LeFevour was starting in place of Zach Collaros, who is on the six-game injured list with head and back injuries.

Saskatchewan teammates John Chick and Sam Hurl were awarded the top defensive and top Canadian honours respectively.

Chick, a defensive end, sacked Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray twice, forced a fumble and added a tackle in the Roughriders’ 37-9 win over Toronto at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday.

Linebacker Hurl, a Calgary native, had seven tackles and recovered a fumble.

Winnipeg kicker/punter Lirim Hajrullahu won the special teams award. The rookie from St. Catharines, Ont., connected on all five field-goal attempts and scored 17 points in the Blue Bombers’ 23-6 road win over the B.C. Lions on Friday.

That venue for the Hamilton Tiger Cats game pathetic for a so call professional sports league, the people in attendance should be recommended for commendation to the Governor General of Canada. And while the're at it, the CFL should change the its name immediately to the CBL, Canadian Bush League. Real professional football arriving soon. Go Detroit Lions !

Yeh, let the Argos die. The folks in the big smoke think they are too good for the CFL anyway.

Hey RP, completely off topic, but will you tell someone over there to get Scruffy off of that news beat and get him in there with you on a daily basis. Why don't you have him on anymore?

Believe it or not we need Toronto. Most of the head offices of TSN's sponsors are based there. Without the Southern Ontario market they pull out. We really need Wendy's to keep buying ads.

It has been a real joy to watch the performance of John Chick this year! Right now, it is what I look forward to most with each Rider game. Love to see him get 20 sacks this year.
