REGINA – Well if we can say one thing about the start of the Regina Pats’ abbreviated 24-game 2020-21 regular season, it’s been interesting and entertaining.

Facing the rival Moose Jaw Warriors for the first time – and looking for their first victory after an 0-2 start – the Pats jumped out to a 4-1 first period lead in the Brandt Centre Hub on Tuesday. The goals came from Tom Cadieux, Carson Denomie (2) and Cole Dubinsky. Exceptional player Connor Bedard kept up his 2-points-per game clip, setting up both Denomie goals.

The Warriors replaced starting goaltender Boston Bilous with Brett Mirwald at the 11:47 of the first period and that was the TSN Turning Point.

Moose Jaw scored three unanswered goals ( Tate Popple, Eric Alarie & Ryder Korczak) over the final 40 minutes tie it at 4-4 and force overtime. At 1:43 of the extra session, Warrior captain Daemon Hunt beat Pats goalie Roddy Ross for the game-winner.

Game over: Warriors 5 Pats 4

With the win, Moose Jaw improved to 3-0 while Regina fell to 0-2-1. The Pats outshot the visitors 43-31 while going 1/3 on the power play and 4/5 killing penalties.

Regina returns to action Wednesday at 8:00 pm when they face the Swift Current Broncos in the Brandt Centre.

In the matinee on Tuesday in Regina, the Prince Albert Raiders (2-0-1) downed the Brandon Wheat Kings (1-1-1) 5-3.

Pleasure to watch, so far… the young man floating around the periphery of the top circles waiting for a one timer with a few nice down ice rushes. As for the other young man from the west of regina, he’s driving right in on the net getting his chances and making things happen in the slot showing strength on his skates.

Entertaining….in some ways but not many. Good 15 year olds.
The Pats gave up lots to get Ross. Looks like a bust thankfully only a 24 game sked.
Bedard is head and shoulders the best they have. Sadly not much else even close.
Starting out with a tone of losses like last few season. MJ is much more talented everywhere.
It aint the players…ownership better look higher up the food chain….
