Wednesday Commentary: Anything Can Happen
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on your favourite Commentary! Here we go:
#1 – So long Blue Jays! It was nice knowin’ ya. Canada’s Team committed a firesale on Tuesday at the MLB trade deadline and what’s been a disastrous season is only going to get worse from here.
Yet Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins refuses to say the team is in a rebuild. Hey! I’m all for whatever gets you through the night.
They were forecasted to be a Top 10 team in the Majors this year, but instead have wound up being the league’s biggest disappoint.
I still expect someone will pay.
#2 – The playoffs in the Western Canadian Baseball League begin one week from tonight and it’s really looking like the Moose Jaw Miller Express will line up against the Regina Red Sox in a Best-of-3 opening round series.
The Red Sox took seven of eight in the TransCanada Clash season series including a 17-13 barnburner last night here at Ross Wells Park. In a short series, anything can happen!
It’ll be intense too. We even had a broohaha between Regina’s third base coach and the rowdy Moose Jaw fans. The faces change but human nature does not!
The Millers visit the Saskatoon Berries tonight but I had to remind my Bridge City friends that I don’t do road games.
#3 – As we predicted on this Commentary on Monday, the Edmonton Elks have named Canadian Tre Ford as their starting quarterback for Saturday’s game at Saskatchewan.
The Elkimos are 0-7 and their season is pretty much toast already.
This might be the biggest trap game of all-time.
And #4 – Hockey fans are bemoaning the absence of their favourite sport here in the dog days of summer but this is why I told them to PVR games in the spring. They never listen.
But NHL Network came out with the Stanley Cup favourite odds for the upcoming season and here are the top five favourites in order: Edmonton, Florida, Colorado, Dallas & New Jersey!
In fact the Canadian teams, in order, are Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal & Calgary.
That won’t go over well in Cowtown, but I’m guessing … they already knew.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
