Wednesday Commentary: Don’t Blink

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98)
As you know, it’s Random Thoughts Wednesday. Here we go …
#1 – We interrupt this summer stroll for a trip down Memory Lane. Legendary Moose Jaw Warriors Voice Rob Carnie is now the morning man on 800 CHAB and after catching the RP Show on his TV enough times, asked if he could come on the program.
That day was yesterday and boy oh boy, did we have fun! This is a quick commentary so I won’t go into backgrounds or details but if you wanna re-live the 80’s & 90’s for the best rivalry in Junior Hockey, go back and watch Tuesday’s show!
#2 – Can we not all just get along? I woke up this morning to an email from NFL Canada with the headline trumpeting, “Welcome back football!”
They’re referring to this week’s opening of NFL training camp’s but it’s also a dismissive shot at the Canadian Football League, which has been playing since May.
I get that it’s a competitive world and business is business but I can’t stop imagining another world where the NFL & CFL work together – at least in this country – but maybe globally. Can you imagine the benefits?
Perhaps I’ve just worked too long in the Recovery industry (8 years) but we achieve the best results there when we pool resources and save lives. People often ask why I’ve had so much success in the field, and that’s a big reason why.
As they say if you wanna go fast, go alone. If you wanna go far, go together.
And #3 – Baseball. It’s taking up so much of my thoughts and time, but it’s welcome! The Blue Jays saw their 11-game home streak get snapped Tuesday night thanks to a 5-4 loss to the Yankees while our Moose Jaw Miller Express are now on a nice win streak after home victories over Regina and Weyburn. Tonight and tomorrow we’ve got Medicine Hat in town and in a Sunday matinee, Carter Beck and the Saskatoon Berries come to Ross Wells Park.
Life goes fast so you’d better stop and take time to enjoy the things you love.
Or you’ll miss it entirely.

I wouldn’t read the NFL statement as a shot at the CFL at all. It’s more likely that the Gen Z communications grad who the NFL recently hired that made that post has no idea what the CFL even is.
Bad either way!
The 9 team CFL needs to scrap the East vs West Division set up with one Division where only teams with the best records compete in the playoffs thus leaving the team/s with the worst win/loss record on the sidelines totally out. The CFL is in dire need of a transformation as it has played out with the same redundant boring format year after year.
