It’s time for this week’s edition of the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: The Blue Jays are back and that’s always good. They are 1-3 in spring training here in Florida, but I know we’re not supposed to put any stock in preseason results.

According to preseason Power Rankings I’ve seen, they’re ranked #10 in all of Major League Baseball. That’s pretty good (they were ranked somewhere between 6th, 7th, and 8th last year at this time) but the trouble is rated ahead of them are division foes Baltimore, New York and Tampa.

So a wild card berth is the goal!

Next, the great: I gotta say, it’s the hockey. Ask a hundred people and you’ll get a hundred different opinions about their team and they should do.

The NHL Trade Deadline is a little over a week away and if you’re tired of the buzz and fake news, it’ll be over soon and then it’s the homestretch, headed into the best time of the year.

That’s all kinds of great.

And lastly the ugly: Winnipeggers were on pins and needles waiting to hear what Commissioner Gary Bettman had to say about the future of the Jets franchise when he met with the media on Tuesday.

It was anyone’s guess and I predicted he’d say “Buy tickets or the team will be gone.”

But he didn’t.

Bettman said what we all knew – that Winnipeg is a strong hockey market and there’s no reason for panic.

Yet.

He also wondered why there would be any suggestion that the team might be on the move out of town in the future?

Uh Gary, it was team Chairman Mark Chipman who brought it up first on Friday.

When you get mixed messages from your leaders, that’s ugly. And a bit scary too.
