It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday and boy, do we have some good ones!

#1 – It’s become a World Series for the ages! Vladimir Guerrero’s 2-run homerun in the third inning on Tuesday was the TSN Turning Point as the Blue Jays stunned Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers 6-2 in Game 4 in LA. It ties up the Fall Classic at 2-2 going into Game 5 tonight.

It feels like every game has been the key game in this slugfest, but history shows the Game 5 winner in a series tied 2-2 goes on to win it all 67% of the time. (I might add Game 4 winners in the World Series go on to take the title 72% of the time).

So we wait for tonight …

#2 – Did you get enough hockey on Tuesday? It was the NHL’s second annual Frozen Frenzy where all 32 teams were in action on a 16-game slate. That’s a lot for a Tuesday!

My slice of the pie was taking in the Anaheim Ducks’ 3-2 shootout win at Florida in Joel Quenneville’s return to Sunrise.

He was forced to resign from the Panthers exactly five seasons ago due to the Blackhawks abuse scandal.

Coach Q was welcomed back on the video board to a smattering of applause. It was about as ho hum as you can get …

And #3 – Now having some time to absorb it, Monday’s 2027 Grey Cup-in-Regina announcement seemed rather odd, no?

Not the announcement itself per se, but moreso the timing of it. It comes basically on the eve of Round 1 of the CFL Playoffs and it says here all the focus should be on this weekend’s games: Saturday’s Eastern Semifinal with Winnipeg at Montreal and the Western Semifinal with Calgary at BC.

Meh … I guess we’re aware of it all, but it seems like news which would’ve been better served being dropped during Grey Cup Week.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

#1 – GO BLUE JAYS GO BLUE JAYS.

And #3 – Odd timing announcement, the Canadian Football League along with the Commissioner and the Saskatchewan Roughriders organization playing off the Riders 2025 1st place CFL finish and trying desperately to drum up ticket sales for the upcoming playoff game while also hyping up in advance next year’s championship in Regina. It’s plain to see the league is in trouble attendance wise.
