WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – “I DON’T KNOW!”

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)

If my parents were alive today I’d be spending my time thanking them, and apologizing.

Because I get it now. The wisdom that comes with age can’t be bought, and they were trying to tell me that for years. But here we are.

There are plenty of new and exciting opportunities presenting themselves in my life but I just keep getting this eery sense that I’ve been down this road before. It’s a good road, and I know where it ends.

It’s like when I founded Pedersen Recovery Inc. six years ago, and came up with a hybrid, new-aged Recovery program to aid those suffering from Addiction and other Mental Health issues. No one had ever seen anything like my program before.

In fact my methods had plenty of critics in the industry – people who’d been doing it for far longer than me — but they couldn’t knock the results. And I had one simple answer for all the questions that came flooding in, like:

“How come this works so well?”, “How come you’re getting these opportunities?”, or “How come your name has spread so far so fast?”

My answer to all of them was: “I DON’T KNOW!”

I didn’t plan it; I just did it. But I had walked through the fire myself, and smelled the devil’s breath. I’d also found the road out, and knew what worked.

It’s not dissimilar to what’s going on with the RP Show on TV, Radio & Streaming across Canada and the USA. I’m getting different questions now, but the answer is still the same.

Like, “How come the Florida Panthers love your show so much?” or “How come your show is so big in Atlanta?”

Again, the answer is: “I DON’T KNOW!”

I didn’t plan it. I just did it.

But fielding these questions is not frustrating. There’s that familiar feeling that I’ve seen this all before, and it turns out nice.

On a different, but not unrelated note, I went fishing for the first time the other day with my buddy’s kid. No one else was interested nor could go, so I did. AND LOVED IT! There’s no better place for your first time than the Fishing Capital of the World.

I found it wonderful for my Mental Health, and for awhile it took my mind off my worries. Similar to playing an instrument, playing with your dog or working out. For a second I regretted wasting 50 years before giving fishing a try but soon got over that and realized there’s no time like the present.

It’s amazing what happens when you live with an open mind, and no fear of trying new things.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Imagine how popular your show would be if you didn’t promote conspiracy theories and give a platform for lunatics like you do?

Like how does one make so many wrong turns to end up exactly where they claim to not want to be. 🧐

Well speaking for the lunatic fringe I for one am grateful this platform has existed since 2007.

There are no conspiracy theories. Simply out God is dead and everything is not true. If you start from that basis point then matters become predictable.

I also tune in daily to see what’s next. This blog used to resemble 1980s WHL/Stampede wrestling with the characters right from the Stern wack pack.

What a great photo. I bet that youngster will never forget the good time he had fishing with you.

I’m definitely not the world’s most devoted fisherman, I don’t do it very often, but I have to admit that there is just something downright therapeutic about dropping that hook in the water, taking a deep breath and waiting.

I prefer to fish like a bear, honestly. It’s more my pace.

I’m actually surprised you hadn’t fished for 50 years, never would have guessed that.

I read some of the other less than exemplary comments, btw. How can humans not be socially embarrassed by themselves sometimes.

You’re teaching a child to fish and then someone comes along and says something assy.
