Wednesday Commentary: Killin’ Time
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
Wednesdays are for random thoughts. Surprisingly, we’ve got quite a few today!
#1 – For some reason it keeps nagging in my mind. Connor McDavid not coming out to accept the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP remains a topic of much debate.
Used to be the losing team stayed on the ice to watch the trophy presentation. They certainly do at the World Juniors.
I let so much roll off my back these days – saying times have changed – but are they changing for the better?
#2 – The 2024 Hockey Hall of Fame induction class was unveiled on Tuesday and it includes Jeremy Roenick, Pavel Datsyuk and Shea Weber.
But Theo has a better resume than all of them, by a mile, yet he remains snubbed and it’s looking like he always will.
I dislike how politics has robbed the love I once had for Hall of Fames. It used to be the thing I enjoyed debating the most, but now I barely pay attention.
*Rubs earlobes* “Let it go.”
#3 – The TV network highlight shows are rife with soccer highlights. Is it just me or does it seem like there’s always some big worldwide soccer tournament on the go somewhere at all times?
But we have the choice to like it or lump it.
I choose to lump it.
#4 – CFL football makes me happy! Today on the RP Show we’ll let the viewers vote for what’s Canada’s Game of the Week: Edmonton at BC, Montreal at Toronto, Winnipeg at Calgary or Hamilton at Ottawa.
I’ll say it’s Alouettes-Argos.
And #5 – Clint Black music reallllly makes me happy. And the 80’s & 90’s country music icon will perform his hits tonight at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre and as luck would have it, the Miller Express baseball team has the night off.
There’s always something to feel good about if you don’t give up on finding it.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 5 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)
It’s not changing for the better but it’s certainly changing. If anyone lives on or has a business on Dewdney Avenue. – I strongly suggest you contact your City Counselor as 2 tiny insignificant men have hi jacked a process and City Council votes on that name change. It effects 2500 residents and businesses – now think of the expense incurred to change over addresses for billing and then add in if businesses have to do this. Toronto sent Trudeau a message yesterday and it’s time for tax paying citizens to get this City back on track. If anyone thinks… Read more »
With regards to Theo Fleury at this point the only people who raise the issue is our generation. Kids today are clueless about who played in the NHL and what the actual contributions are. When Mike “700 Goals/none of them ever mattered” Gartner is the Chair and the rest of these virtue signallers make the decisions then Theo has no chance. Honestly this started in junior. He ran through all those guys and ended up going in the 8th round. He made it. He worked these guys and now it’s payback time. …..Mike Gartner just so the kids know. –… Read more »
I don’t recall losing teams stay on the ice for the Stanley Cup presentation. Can you let me know when that was? Thanks
