WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY: NO SURPRISE
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)
Wednesdays are for random thoughts on the RP Commentary! Here we go …
#1 – It’s been a real fun week in sports. Following the goings-on of Grey Cup Week has been a treat and no surprise, Hamilton’s doing a real nice job as host.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have been installed as 7.5-point favourites by our official betting partner Bet Regal in Sunday’s CFL championship game against Montreal.
No surprise there either. The Alouettes have been underdogs all season and it’s suited them well.
#2 – While all this is going on, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are looking for a new head coach. It’s become a secondary story to Grey Cup Week, which is the way it’s supposed to be.
Now Jon Ryan has joined Henry Burris as former Roughriders who feel they should be considered for the job.
It’s turning comical! But like I said, it’s been a fun week.
#3 – We’ve been reminded a lot lately why sports is the ultimate soap opera, but follows no script. The fairytale story that was Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly ended in a nightmare with his two Pick 6, nine-turnover showing in the semifinals. No one saw that coming.
The NHL season is similar. Many of us wrote off the Boston Bruins this year, whatwith their playoff choke job last season and losing longtime veterans Patrick Bergeron and David Krejci to retirement.
But lo and behold, they’re the #1 team in the NHL this week. It goes to show you what sufficient motivation will do.
The Oilers could use some of that.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

It’s akin to when the great Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis said, “Every one has a plan….until they get punched in the face.” And that’s how life is to be approached and lived. Montreal did some really stupid things throughout the year, but clearly Coaching takes over to address it and then put the proper plan in place. Prior to Labor Day I honestly thought Cody Fajardo was… Read more »
Jim, what makes you think you can comment on a “professional level”??? No idea what that even means!!!!!!!! are you saying some people comment unprofessionally then? It looks like your biggest fan is yourself.
The next Head Coach will be recycled and/or be a “boy” that they know will be happy to just have the job and it’s be a civil little business meeting on Monday mornings after the weekend win or lose. Khari Jones will be the next Head Coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. – how Khari didn’t puke in his mouth just a little bit having to listen to Bob Dyce or watching one stupid decision after another is a testament to his strength and character. Khari is also smart enough to know he has to play the game within the game,… Read more »
