Wednesday Commentary: Random Thoughts

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on this commentary! We always love those …
#1 – We should be enthralled with the Super Bowl 60 match-up but the buzz in football is Bill Belichick being snubbed by the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters in his first year of eligibility. I heard from someone on the voting committee last night – who voted to put Belichick in – and he said Bill’s the most qualified coach ever. Yet he didn’t receive enough support from voters who apparently were bothered by one of two things, or both: 1) His cheating-in-football scandals, and 2) He was a jerk to the media over his 40 years in the league.
Frankly none of this surprises me. You know my thoughts on how Hall of Fames have lost their allure over recent years.
Sad.
At first glance it makes you wonder why anyone would aspire to be “great” anymore but in retrospect, it’s not about that. It’s about doing your best, committing, and winning! We don’t compete over a lifetime just to get into Hall of Fames. Besides, Belichik will end up in there one day anyway. But for now he’s embarrassed.
#2 – It’s become a lot easier to pick NHL games in the second half of the season. In fact a betting expert on the RP Show said yesterday picking the Leafs and Canucks to lose is “easy money”. On the flipside, Tampa and Colorado are sure bets to win most nights. The Oilers too.
Anyone wanna dare pick a Stanley Cup Final match yet?
And #3 – On Tuesday I celebrated 11 years sober. I didn’t put that in Tuesday’s Commentary because frankly, I forgot. Something reminded me later in the day so I made a social media post on it – not to say “look at me” – but to prove to those currently struggling that Recovery works, and is possible.
Turns out it’s a great way to live.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

I was on baited breath waiting for this one Garth Brooks has a famous line inducting Randy Travis into the Hall of Fame. Simply put…”Randy Travis saved country music”. On the other hand Hank Jr waited 50 years and Waylon Jennings didnt even show up to the ceremony. HOF means nothing. It actually means less than nothing. Now the real question is which HOF is less credible. I rate Hockey, Baseball and football has been bad a very long time. 8 Super Bowls…..and Bill doesn’t hire a p.r firm to advocate like his former boss. He has his young girlfriend… Read more »
Congratulations Mr. Pedersen on 11 years sobriety.
Kudos from me too, it’s been 45 years and counting for me.
