WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – Shche ne Vmerla Ukrainy i slava, i volia
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT WAS A CORNICOPIA TUESDAY NIGHT FOR HOCKEY FANS IN THE NHL’S BERMUDA TRIANGLE.
THE JETS, FLAMES AND OILERS ALL PLAYED, ALL GAMES WERE ON TV, AND ALL THREE CANADIAN PRAIRIE NHL TEAMS WON!
LET’S START IN WINNIPEG WHERE THE UKRAINIAN CHOIR SANG THE UKRAINIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM PRIOR TO PUCK DROP, AND IT SEEMED TO SPUR ON THE HOME TEAM.
THE JETS KEPT THEIR FLICKERING PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE WITH AN 8-4 SMASHING OF THE MONTREAL CANADIENS AND AS CACTUS JACK WELLS WOULD SAY, “AND IT ALL TURNED OUT NICE AGAIN.”
DOWN IN PHILLY, CONNOR, LEON AND KAILER SCORED FOR THE OILERS AS EDMONTON SHUTOUT THE FLYERS 3-0. MIKKO KOSKINEN POSTED A 39-SAVE SHUTOUT AND THE OIL-BACKERS ARE POINTING OUT THEIR FINNISH GOALIE IS 7-0-1 OVER HIS PAST EIGHT STARTS
EDMONTON HAS A 2-POINT LEAD FOR THE FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT, SO THINGS REMAIN PERILOUS IN THE ALBERTA CAPITAL, BUT YOU CAN LIKELY BET ON THEM MAKING THE PLAYOFFS.
HOWEVER THEY HAVE JEKYLL AND HYDE GOALTENDING AND THAT’S NOT GOING TO WIN THEM A DARN THING.
AND LASTLY, THE CALGARY FLAMES SMOKED MINNESOTA 5-1 TO GIVE THEM A HOME-AND-HOME SWEEP OF THE WILD. THE FLAMES PULVERIZED A VERY GOOD MINNESOTA TEAM 12-4 IN THOSE TWO GAMES.
THE FLAMES BOAST SOME OF THE BEST GOALTENDING IN THE NHL WITH JACOB MARKSTROM AND IT SAYS HERE THEY REPRESENT CANADA’S BEST CHANCE AT WINNING THE STANLEY CUP THIS YEAR.
LEAFS FANS, LET’S HEAR FROM YOU.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY.

I would be trilled for any of our Canadian teams to win the cup … but mostly cheering for the Leafs!!
